really not an oil thread - but a question

looks like it was too much oil. Drained the cup or so out last night and everything was fine this morning. whew

Would you let me ride on your pillion?

might not be so big ---- but looks way to MALE for my liking !

    What is this part?

EASY - that there is a dog collar/muzzle connector bolt - for those Man-boob contest winners that have gone on to bigger & better dominatrix leather fetishism. or maybe it belongs to the air conditioner.

really not an oil thread - but a question

first answer - yes- it was a yammi filter other questions sort of answered. I filled the oil filter prior to putting on and only a little bit dribbled out. I didn't totally fill it - filled it once and let it sit (and watched level go down) then filled it almost to the top. checked the oil...

    Practicing Panic Stops?

actually - practice could hurt a lot. If no one ever told you about "if you lock up the rear brake - you should leave it locked" - and you went out and practiced locking up the rear and you unlocked it in after sliding a bit... could definitely hurt. Not saying that you shouldn't practice -...

    Practicing Panic Stops?

not to throw darts or anything - but "really not your fault"? while no one can predict the degree of embicility required to throw a car in reverse at speed (is that even possible?) - as you stated in your own comments, " If I had reacted immediately" .... Why didn't you react immediately? Not...

Mounting the Eye of Gods to a 06

Tom (aka head buffer), where did you end up mounting the ballasts (starters...whatever)? Under the seat? under the passenger seat? I've been waiting to do everything at once - scott Cathey is building brackets from my prototypes (he should have gotten them in the mail today). I never...

really not an oil thread - but a question

Did an oil change on Saturday - new oil - new filter changed to Golden Spectro and instead of 20/50 - went to 10/50 put 4 liters in plus filled the oil filter prior to installation. lines up almost exactly between the high and low mark when bike is on center stand. Maybe just shade higher...

    Practicing Panic Stops?

that would be because something like 80% of your braking comes from the front - NOT the rear. I didn't notice but perhaps someone mentioned NOT TO SWERVE WHILE BRAKING. MSF teaches you to swerve first then brake. The reason is that the front can wash out under hard braking combined with...

    2006 FJR1300A or 2003 BMW K1200GT?

You'll find that if you want to do some serious distance on the GT that you will be doing some modifications - specically the seat and will try to come up with a heat fix. It is WAY hotter than the '06 FJR. then there is the maintenence costs - see what a sevice II costs at your beemer dealership

    final drive lubrication

if you rotated the wheels while doing the fill up - it will drop the level - keep rotating and it will gush some of the extra you just poured in.... out. My guess is that you will see some seepage after you tighten everything up and go for a ride.

heat on / off solved by 2006 model?

before everyone claims I'm whining -- let me explain. for the most part and certainly relative to other years the '06 HAS FIXED the heat issue. That said - this is still a hot bike as only 146 hp (or whatever it is) can produce. It is NOT a K1200LT which I never felt any heat on except in...

    B to B Insanity help

depends on what day of the week. the road is capable of being driven fast - though there can be some LEO presence around the various small towns. It is pretty much wide open, but can be treacherous in a rain storm as some of the gullies will fill up with water and ou wont know how deep they...

    From Avon's to Pilots

I went from Stones to Pilot Roads. Some say that putting Pilot Power on the front and Roads on the rear is the way to go. Wear out about the same time and give a better feeling to the front end. I have roads on both ends. Never noticed any susceptability to negative air - not really sure why...

How about a saftey tip from each member?

one that was taught to me when in a boating safety class - that pertains well to motorcycling (and most anything else). There is Right and There is Dead Right. just because you have the right of way or the right to do something doesn't mean that some 2 ton cage can't and wont exercise their...

    Still here,

I'm thinkin you might have missed: 1. an oil thread or two 2. other never ending pointless BS up the ying yang 3. the arrival of the much fast '06 A 4. The arrival of the slower - but very cool '06AE 5. Beeroux's half-windshield/ice scraper farkle of the year 6. dirty pictures that...

    Russel vs. Corbin vs. Sargent

russel, corbin and mayer are all in cal. I'm also in the market though the 06 seat is starting to feel better after 11,000 miles of break in. I had a russel on my last bike and hated to give it up. 100,000 miles on that bike and seat.

How about a saftey tip from each member?

when teaching my daughter to drive I did this - and it isn't a bad thing to do once in awhile yourself. Talk about what you look for when you are driving or riding. About seeing a dog run across the street (probably a kid chasing him) or ball crossing the road. about paying attention to the...
