    Post WFO riding

If you want a hunded miles of twisties, sweepers, scenery, and no traffic to speak of, do Route 14 from LaPorte (above Fort Collins) to Walden, CO. Too bad there is no easy way to get from there to Rocky Mountain National park unless you then go down 125 (from Walden) & catch 34 to go into the...

    NS to PC

Hi Gypsy, Last year, with 104-106 degree heat just south of Salt Lake City, I found my mesh jacket, a wet bandana around the neck, & a constantly wet t-shirt helped me stay cool. It's a great ride, don't miss it, just pack some extra water for 'dowsing'...

    First Trip Around the Block

Welcome to the group ! If you do a search for 'highway pegs' you should get a few hits. FWIW When I did my Russell, I had them make it a inch & a half taller, LD ride knee problems went away, maybe something like that would help ? There's always Ibuprofin I guess... Enjoy !

    Top Case and side cases

In nevada last year, coming back from WFO, I ran into some tail weave, at FJR maximum minus 10mph to FJR maximum. Fully loaded bike. Backed off the throttle & the weave went away. Needless to say, since I haven't been at FJR maximum since it hasn't been as issue...

    The Motorcycle Wave....

I wave early, and seem to get a better response rate then if I just waited until he was almost past. Sort of the 'You go first' 'No, you go first' 'No you' 'No you!' Everybody seems to wave out in the West & Midwest, friendlier I guess.

    S3X or FJR?

A good solid coat of wax helps keep the bug debris from bothering the paint. I wax baby once a year whether she need it or not. I'd rather ride...

    Question and request

A coupla weeks ago GunMD posted a thread saying how he thought all the '+1' posts after someone made a point were rather useless. A few posts later, TWN suggested the phrase 'gunny' instead of '+1'. Lots of people thought that was kinda cool...

    ...Creek don't rise

Congratulations & good luck ! Remember, it gets way smoother after breakin (we're talkin 5-10k here, not the piddly 600-1000 owners manual 'breakin'). And... it'll take some concerted effort to adjust your riding position for the first few thousand (I came from a cruiser). Enjoy the ride !

Just got my *** couch from Russel

First off, let me say I'm sorry they didn't install the heavy duty spring you asked for. They should have at least called you to discuss & clear it with you. That said, I'm 225-235 (depending on season) and when I got the seat I didn't go for the heavy duty spring. After 18k miles with the seat...

Wife wanted to take the FJR out for a ride last night

Domestic Vins are as follows, maybe different for Japanese motorcycles ? Vin 10 - year of manufacture Vin 11 - Plant code Vin 12-17 - serial number of the unit made at that plant i.e. you should never have a match on the last 8.

    Road Madness Story

You'll fit right in with the LD cowd here. I bookmarked the write-up for later, pix pretty nice, any way to see a bigger size (1024x768)? I know what you mean about no high-test, had to fill my old cruiser with regular at Chapleau, Ontario once, twas all there was at the station... Enjoy the...
