    Bridgestone BT 023 GT Update

I've got almost 5K miles on my front 023 'GT' (only have a front GT -- somehow, I got out of synch on changing both?) and it still looks great. :) In the past I've totally shagged other front tires @ 5K. :(

SkooterG and his Papa Chuy drank gallons of Kool-Aid.

    "I ain't gonna carry it -- I'm gonna ride the damn thing." (hey, it's friday... ;) )

Mother Nature is being a *****

Can one still stay at the old hotel (B&B?) on the main street -- the one with the hot-tub on the roof...?

    Minnesotans in Arkansas

I have a riding buddy (Minnesotan) who's still hung-up on 'smoky-treats'. When riding interesting/challenging roads, he often gets well-ahead of the group and will park at a road-side pull-off. He'll then take out a partial butt from his cig-pack, light it, and look like he's been waiting for...

    Valve adjustment

The poppet-valves on modern (DOHC) engines don't go 'out of adjustment' very often -- if at all. US Govt. EPA emission mandates for the past couple decades have ordered manufacturers (cars) to guarantee compliance for 50K & 100K miles. These rules have forced engine manufacturers to get really...

    Bent Fork Tubes

Do you know why (what was the cause...)? (sorry, didn't you buy this bike used...?)

Went South for Looking for Some Warmth

"In the afternoon I watch the clouds drift past the bald peak of Mount Tukuhnikivats. (Someone has to do it.)" -- the late Edward Abbey: Hey, thanks.

    Bent Fork Tubes

OK, that helps -- (I assume?) he bought this one used? How much does he know of its history? Hit a pot-hole? Curb? Bent rim? (we know the fork-tube is bent -- just trying to 'flesh-out' the whole issue, if there is one...)

    Bent Fork Tubes

I see you're in the 'crash club' -- do you think that was the cause of bent fork-tube? If so, you may also want to check for a broken steering stop (do the h/bars turn more in one direction than the other?). The FJR's fork-tubes are relatively large diameter but thin-walled. They get strength...

Way more than you ever wanted to know about oil

Not if we keep on-topic... What's with all the bullying...? :(

Way more than you ever wanted to know about oil

Yes, if you expect me to believe you... And, please keep the conversation objective and on-topic -- above personal attacks... :(

Why is the FJr being left out of tests?

MamaYama (Cypress) never wanted to bring the FJR to America in the first place -- they had to be forced (and paid...) to do it...! :o :(

Way more than you ever wanted to know about oil

Yes, that simulates oil use/conditions -- and, they used oil analysis to achieve those algorithms. BMW autos and M-Bs have even more sophisticated/complex on-board oil analysis (OK, they're not really analyzing...) equipment. Antiwear additives are commonly needed where rubbing/sliding...

Way more than you ever wanted to know about oil

That may be true for modern GM engines that have on-board oil analysis and, up-to, 25K mile oil-change intervals? For most/others, the motor oil just can't be kept clean enough to get to the point of detrimental additive depletion. Also, modern automotive engines (with more...

Way more than you ever wanted to know about oil

How'd you determine that -- oil analysis...?

Way more than you ever wanted to know about oil

Be careful, here -- especially with "boutique/specialty" motor oils (not so much with the 'majors'). Oils may not be entirely compatable? Maybe you should lab-test (mix/heat at home) first? If there's a 'Mil.Spec' on the label -- all's OK -- Govt. mandates 'Mil.Spec' for military to ensure...

    Leather seats - protection

S.O. had a leather Corbin on previous bike (67K mi.) -- always covered it with a waterproof cover when it rained. You're welcome, mate.

    Special Batttery Charger?

The FSM is quite specific and detailed about how the FJR's (modern, factory-fill, AGM) battery must be charged.

    Kawasaki Ninja 1000

    Not as much as one might think... Figures I found: ZRX1200 - 82.5 lb/ft @ 7K : '11 Ninja 1000 - 81 lb/ft @ 7800 Of course, the 800 RPM higher torque peak is represented in the horsepower numbers: ZRX1200 - 122 HP : '11 Ninja 1000 - 136 HP
