    Erratic voltage readout?

All is well, I checked it with a voltage meter and it shows normal voltage. Must just be the home made power cord to my detector on that particular bike.

    Erratic voltage readout?

I'm getting erratic voltage readouts from my Escort radar detector when it is on my 05 FJR. When it is in my other vehicles and bikes it reads a pretty steady voltage of around 13 to 14 volts like it should, but on the FJR it jumps all over the place from 10 to 14 volts and sometimes the low...

    Shifting problem?

Well I took the foot peg/frame piece off and lubed up the pivot and everything works and shifts perfectly again. Can't believe it was soooo simple. I would have sworn that it was in the tranny by the way it felt. The sticky pivot wasn't letting the shifter arm ratchet all the way back for the...

    Shifting problem?

Boy thats quick service guy's. Thanks for the tips and info. These forums are a great asset. It is a little over due for an oil change. I think it has around 4200 miles on this oil. The last time I changed it I put some Mobil 1 syn. in it I think. I had been running Delo 400. Maybe I should...

    Shifting problem?

Well I am finally having my first problem with the 05 FJR. I have 32K on it and it isn't wanting to go back down into 1st gear from 2nd when coming to a stop. I suspect that the shifting fork is bent but I'm scratching my head on this one. Has anyone else had this problem or have an idea of...

    FJR will not run.

Well I went out gave it full throttle and it started right up. It was just flooded.

    FJR will not run.

I too am having this problem. I did a 9 day trip, put it away for a few day's, started it up for a few seconds one night, shut it off, then tried to start it the next day. It ran for about 4 seconds and died. Now it cranks but won't start and I am getting a number 16 showing up on the display. I...

    SW-MOTECH Alu-Rack Toprack ???

I bought a GIVI V-46 top case and the SW-MOTECH Alu-Rack Toprack to mount it to my 05 but I'm not that impressed with the play that is in the rack when it is on the bike. There is only one bolt and a clamp of sorts that holds this rack on the bike. When the topcase is on the bike, there is a...

    StarCom Location

I keep mine in the tank bag. I also have a KTM Adventure 950 so it makes it easier to swap the Starcom, Ipod, and Radar detector from bike to bike. I cut a small hole in the front of the tank bags where the power leads go out to the acc. The cord to the helmets I have coming out of the zipper...

    Loose bags

On my bags I glued a small rectangular piece of clear Plexiglas to the top of the sliding post in the bag itself. This pulls the bags tighter into the top slots and worked really well for me. I just lightly sanded the slider on top and the Plexiglas pieces then used super glue to glue the...

AE Test Drive! I rode the '06 AE and tested the shifters

A buddy of mine just bought one of these new bikes. I have an 05. After riding my buddies new 06 I agree with the first post. Works pretty darn good.

    Considering used 05 FJR, questions

Great to hear you like the Yamaha. On my 05 I drilled and tapped another hole in the shifter linkage arm on the engine closer to the shaft. Then I moved the linkage to the new hole to take up what I thought was too much shifter travel. I did this when new and it seemed to really help with...

Home made Passport 8500 power lead?

Worked great. I made up one using a regular phone cord. I used the middle two wires, Red pos. and green neg. I did notice that on double ended phone cords that one end is wired opposite of the other so if anyone else tries this make sure you do check that it matches the stock power cord polarity.

Home made Passport 8500 power lead?

Has anyone made up their own power lead using a telephone type plug for the Passport 8500 without messing with the mute button and LED light on the stock power cord? I'm wanting to make my own power lead that I can hook into the switched ign. system that is simple with out having to mess with...

    California Scientific for an 05?

Thanks guy's, a buddy of mine has the new 06 bike with the tall California Scientific shield and it is just a bit too much window for me. I think I will go with the shorter (med) California Scientific. I also machined a block that is like the Rifle block to lower the shield on top and it works...

    Seattle - Reno Route

I'm in Hermiston Oregon, just south of Tri-Cities WA. I'm planning on taking Hwy 395 all the way down to Reno. From Seattle I would take 90 or Hwy 410 to Yakima then down I-82 to Hermiston to Hwy 395 through Oregon, much less traffic and LEO's plus some great riding.

Other options in the Jumper mod diagnostic screen?

Has anyone figured out what the other numbers are or mean when navigating through the diagnostic screens after doing the jumper mod? I scrolled through them all and figured maybe you can change other parameters in the electronics but I couldn't make heads or tails of what I was looking at.

    California Scientific for an 05?

Has anyone tried one of the California Scientific windshields on an 05 yet? I'm thinking of buying the medium +2.75" size one and was wondering how people liked it. I assume that it is +2.75" over the stock 05 height not the 03 height? Weren't the 03's a bit shorter than the 04 and 05's?

    Thermometers

My buddy just bought a nice thermometer from Yamaha with an 06 FJR connected to it. Now I think I need a thermometer.
