    09 rear brake issue

kman, Had the the same symptons on an 08. Using a service manual as a guide, I bled the brakes a couple of times with no change in pedal pressure. Took the bike to my dealer and he bled the brakes using a power bleeder and fixed the problem. I think you still have air in the line. Farmer

    Spongy rear brake

I did the front brake first and then moved to the rear brake.

    Spongy rear brake

I checked the spacers on the rear tire, if it's the same as a Gen. 1 ABS, then everything is OK from that standpoint. Maybe I'm doing something wrong with how I bleed the brakes. My procedure is to pump the pedal a few times, then hold it down and open the bleed valve for a couple of seconds...

    Spongy rear brake

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check everything again and rebleed the lines as I hate not having a firm pedal.

    Spongy rear brake

I'm having the same problem on my 08, spongy rear brake. Using the service manuals' instructions, I bled the linked front brake and then the rear. After completing the bleed job, I'm still having the spongy rear brake. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks.

    new battery

I would be hard pressed to try anything other than a Yuasa. Still good on my 08 and the factory Yuasa in my Road Star lasted 8 years.

    FJR Mileage Milestones

Did you do your own maintainence or did a shop do the work? That's quite an accomplishment to get that many miles out of a bike.

Is Sturgis Worth Seeing? (The Area, not the Rally)

Keystone is one of our favorite places/area to stay at. Lots of camping as you mentioned and the Red Ruby downtown is a good place to eat. Coming from a backwoods 'burg, I know a lot about small towns.

FJR Freedom - Is there a place that you have not taken your FJR to?

It sounds like you ride with some very talented riders. If your friends and brother were on FJR's, they would probably do more on them than I certainly could. My point was that the average rider is probably not going to be able to do the kind of riding you are speaking of with a heavy dual...

FJR Freedom - Is there a place that you have not taken your FJR to?

I've ridden the S10 and liked the riding style and features, but I think the S10 and GS are too heavy to be dual sports unless driving on gravel constitutes dual. I've been on quite a few gravel roads with the FJR two up and had no problem, add a set of wider bars and the handling would be...

Is Sturgis Worth Seeing? (The Area, not the Rally)

Might also mention that there is a Yamaha/BMW dealer in Sturgis and a motorcycle museum in the downtown area. Deadwood is a neat town, with gambling and historical type buildings. The Keystone area has quite a few motels and is connected to good roads along with being centrally located in the...

Is Sturgis Worth Seeing? (The Area, not the Rally)

The Blackhills and Devils Tower area has nice scenery and lots of good bike roads. Lots of camping areas and good trout fishing if you're interested. I live just a few hours from the Hills so I get up there 3-4 times a year. As the area is fairly small, I would not recommend going during the...

    When to trade?

You're right, wanting is enough reason. What gets the gears in motion to buy?

    When to trade?

I was wondering what reasoning different people use when they buy a new bike. Is it because it's wore out or the wife finally got tired of the begging? Sometimes I see something and didn't realize I needed it until I seen it. Is that going on with the 2013's? Great to be on this forum, can't...
