Does anyone know if the Givi blue panels are a match for the Yamaha blue? TIA!
I have a Givi V46 with the color-matched blue panel, and it's an exact match for my previous '06 and current '12, both Cobalt Blue. The part # on the invoice is C46B594.

On the Twisted Throttle listing for the V46, they have it listed as: C46B594 - Cobalt blue DPBMU (2006 Yamaha FJR1300 & 2007 FZ1)

If you're looking for a Givi case other than the V46, I have no idea if there's a good color match.

^^^^^ Thanks!!

Thanks. Not the best of reviews, wish he had contrasted it with a Gen III. And, I disagree with his opinion about this not being a sport tourer.
Agreed, a direct comparison would be nice, but I doubt the motor will feel flat. Besides, you'll get your first hand accounts soon enough.
Also, it's a british article. Over there this is a heavy weight TOURER. Sport tourer is more like a Ninja 1000 or Sprint ST; smaller, lighter, less comfort that a touring bike but more relaxed than a race rep.

And as far as the cornering lights not working, I wonder if they are light sensitive, so with a camera flash, maybe they turn off?

Once again nobody talked about actual performance. Once again they claim that the new 6 speed has shorter gearing in the bottom 5 gears. The lean sensing cornering lights didn't work. A rider over cooked his corner entry speed and blamed the ABS. Nothing else to see here, move on....
That article told me nothing specific regarding actual MPH to RPM ratio in 6th gear. They simply say it is taller than the earlier model's 5th gear. I will rely on a new owner to make that very easy test. Hopefully the horse will not get too pissed off with the beatings!!

I refer the honourable gentlemen to the reply I made some pages ago, wherein I predicted a complete lack of useful information from any journalistic exercise with the 2016.....

As for riding impression, it's going to ride pretty much like any previous FJR. Unless the guy riding the test has been on an earlier one for any length of time or has a, earlier bike to swap with, his "impression" of the difference between the 5- and 6-speed is going to be a guess. Maybe he'll like the slipper and call it the greatest thing for super-tourers since gasoline, who knows?

... The impressions of the rider staring at his instrument cluster at speed has to be more accurate than those silly calculations.

No smiley.
You're serious?

We all know the speedometer reads incorrectly. Mine's out by around 7%, 5 mph optimistic at 70mph, the worst of all of my three FJR's.

My "silly calculations" are far more accurate than my speedometer, judging by my GPS. That's been the case for all of them. And my Trophy before my conversion to Yamaha.

You can't be serious!

I won't agree that the rider's staring at the cluster is more accurate than the actual calculations, but I will say that the rider's perception is the most important criteria regardless of the true numbers.

FWIW, that explains why my tired old '05 is still the fastest.

No, my silly friends. I was not serious. That was sarcasm. See below.

I'm aware of McAtrophy's analysis of the gear ratios. For my personal interest I am anxious to see if the modification of my final drive along with the 190/55 rear tire accomplished the same result as the 6th gear. I have now gained a net 5MPH over stock setup in 5th gear. Let's see if the 2016 provides the same or better?? After receiving an owner's report I will bury the dead horse!!
I do not understand how this guy is thinking.

For the record, I have great respect for our fellow Forum contributor Mcatrophy. I have not questioned his calculations. I have compared the speedo to my GPS and it was exactly 2mph off. After moving up to a 190/55 rear tire the speedo and gps were in sync. After installing the Royal Venture final drive modification there is an approx. 3mph gain. I have not yet checked speed to rpm's with gps. If there is any difference I will post.

My selfish interest is knowing if the 2016 6sp provides the same benefit or better than I have with the final drive mod. Sorry for the boredom this has caused some.

Talked with ride motorsports in woodinville a few minutes ago, they now have an A and an ES.
Ride and I90 Motorsports are owned by the same person. Doubt they will deal just yet, too much Microsoft money in the area. But you never know....

A friend of mine made a deal on an 2016 ES in CA today. $17.1k. Delivery date yet to be determined. D&H doesn't deal with 'C' models.

<snip> I made a deal today with a dealer in the Austin area for $16,167 and no dealer add ons for freight or prep, just TT&L (that's pretty close to what D&H is offering at $15,999 and I don't have to go to Alabama or pay to ship the bike to Houston).
For a difference of $168 and a fair trade on your '13, I'd say you did pretty well!
Ride it like you stole it, congrats!

Thanks. I'm pretty happy with the deal--now I'm officially a waiter again!

There is always the chance that your dealer isn't lying to you, and they aren't idiots but may be uninformed and maybe they aren't a pusher to get things done. "Hello, Yamaha, I need to get a FJR1300ES." Yamaha, "No." Dealer, "Ok" Click.

I pushed this as hard as I could and they assure me that they begged their Yamaha rep for a bike for me but to no avail--go figure. However, it makes no difference now because I made a deal today with a dealer in the Austin area for $16,167 and no dealer add ons for freight or prep, just TT&L (that's pretty close to what D&H is offering at $15,999 and I don't have to go to Alabama or pay to ship the bike to Houston). They have had the bike on order since the first day they could and expect it in at any time. They are also giving me a fair price for my '13 in trade so I will be riding the '13 the 190 miles to their dealership and picking up the '16 at the same time. I'm just relieved that I could finally put this to bed--what a struggle.
So which Austin dealer is this. I am already tempted enough by the 2016. Now that they will have a trade on a 2013 which would be my second choice for the past few years - of course I would have to drop a new ECU in it right away - we actually have roads in Texas that exceed the 80 mph limit. I am going out to give my wonderful 06 a hug - that is the fully farkled and paid for in cash 06. #2kidsincollege, #mysmuggler wont match the 13 anyway
I sent you a PM.
