I stopped by my local dealership today and there was a 2016 ES on the showroom floor. Nice bike. Of course

When exactly did you stop by the local stealer?????????????????????????????????

If a left side heat shield is important to you, forget about the Yamaha over priced shield. You can buy a universal chrome shield on line for under $25 and free shipping. I suppose the reason Yamaha does not provide a left side shield is because it may interfere with setting the side stand.
Yep, thank you Art. I had the aftermarket ones on my 2008. They worked well and looked OE. I doubt if I'll bother on the '16.
In retrospect I would not bother if I knew how little it offers on the left side. Just another place to clean and polish the area beneath the shield!!
Hell, I just got it home, and I'm already polishing it.

Go easy on the polishing the new paint and clear coat. Make sure the paint is free of any abrasive material. Use a mild spray on detail wax and do not rub too hard.

Oops. I just looked at this thread on my computer and saw that the app on my phone posted that many times :D My apologies. The bike is at Hinshaw's Motorcycle Store in Auburn WA with no price on it. That isn't a good sign as far as making a good deal goes, methinks.

I spoke with them a few weeks ago. The guy was pretty set on getting MSRP if he could. I suggested an offer in the D&H + $850 range and he said "no".

And here I am just now having hopes of affording a leftover 14 or 15 under $12,500 after taxes. The last couple of years have been rough on my wallet.

Patience, grasshopper. In two or three months, the leftovers will be priced to sell quickly.

WTF Joe? I think your dealer probably got on Yammie's bad side or something... I'm waiting for your announcement. ;)

Off on a tangent - While riding through the countryside on my way to work this morning and running hard through some of the few sweepers and corners we have in the area, I was reflecting on just how smooth the Gen III is compared to my Gen II '07; it really is a great machine. Y'all enjoy your new blue, I'm loving my stealth liquid graphite.

That bike is destined to be a leftover in 2017. The last time I was there (late 2015), there was still a new red 2014 sitting on the floor, very scratched up, at full MSRP.

I don't pay MSRP on anything, some dealers are destined to never realize how to move product....

Greed gets the best of them and by that point, all they did was sit on something they are more then likely losing money on, rather then moving more product / making more sales...

The dealer in the Austin area that I have my '16 ES on order with says that they cannot get any information on delivery. They have had it on order from Yamaha since day 1 and say when the truck rolls up with the bike is when they will know. Why is there not better communication between Yamaha and their dealers concerning deliveries? Certainly someone at Yamaha is scheduling these to the dealers in advance.

I think this kind of issue was covered or at least surface scratched earlier in the thread with "lots going on behind the scenes". See post #986 from somebody that used to work for Yamaha to give you a flavor.

What was being discussed in that post was dealer allocations, which I'm still a little fuzzy on. What I'm talking about here is confirmed dealer orders and expected delivery dates. When I bought my '16 BMW S1000R last November at the very beginning of the model year the dealer could accurately track it with BMW on their computer from order entry to build to delivery--what's up with Yamaha?

<snark>You mean if one manufacturer has a perfect system for delivery date notification then all the others have too also? Hmm. Then shouldn't BMW's final drives be as robust as Yamaha's? </snark>

My larger point is that you're probably not going to get a definitive answer to your question and I gave the link to highlight some of the systemic reasons why Yamaha's a bit different.

This subject of delivery seems to come up about this time every year on the forum where a few people get antsy to get their bikes, wonder why Yamaha can't tell them for sure, and start freaking out.

And for the ones that start pacing out on the ledge and want take other with them...some of the old timers start poking them and reminding that in the old days you'd drop $500 on a PDP program where you gladly endured a 6 month window with not even a month identified...and glad to do it!

In the meantime, I'd stick to the notion that Yamaha announced that March was the month for '16 deliveries--and there's still 21 days left in it.

As I had mentioned much earlier in this thread there were folks riding their 2015s while I was still begging to put down a deposit to order. Yamaha, or its American distribution system works in mysterious ways.

In the end, you will get your bike. It will eventually get here, you will eventually ride it, and you will eventually get to brag to us about your 2016 goodness. And we will be looking forward to that. Be patient.

I talked with one of the local dealers here in the Seattle area. Mother Yamaha told the dealer that the arrival date was moved back to March. Then 11 days later, 3 FJR's showed up on their doors steps.

I know both Ride Motorsports in Woodinville and Adventure Motorsport in Monroe both received the first batch of bikes last week.
