From the Revzilla report, ZING!!!!:

"Personally, I was surprised how rarely I found myself in sixth gear. Hammering down the Beeline highway, leaving Phoenix in the rear-views, I was more comfortable cruising in fifth gear around 75 mph and spinning just over 4,000 rpm than I was bumping up into sixth. Sixth is geared as a very tall overdrive, and unless you're rolling around 80 mph, it’s almost overkill."

I've been shopping around since my 05 is up for sale.

Kinda had an itch for a C14 but they offer no cruise...wtf?

Also much more hunky than the FJR.

I got my Harley and Victory itch scratched so I'm at the point now of just ordering a new 016 FJR, seems like the most logical choice to fit my needs.

3,000 rpm at an indicated 60 mph. Sorry, no gps mounted yet so that's the best I can do. What a smooth bike! It was raining here in the Seattle area today and the bike obviously has new tires so it was a pretty tame ride home. That being said the, the throttle response to inputs is fantastic! No jerkiness at all. Heated grips came in handy. Haven't played with the ES other than setting it to hard on the way home.

Overkill indeed!

I find myself constantly reading this thread (like most of us), but I also hate this thread. It's gonna for sure get me into trouble.

Judging by how many from this forum are buying this bike, I think it's a pretty good indicator how the rest of ST crowd might be viewing this latest "evolution" of the feejer. I know it sure has got me thinking.

Congrats Adam, that's another purdy one!

Forecast for Saturday looks good...300 miles out and back and it'll be ready for the first service.

Several magazine's online versions have ride reviews within the last couple of days. Check out RIDER, MOTORCYCLIST and CYCLE WORLD.

There was a press ride in Arizona a few days ago. Comments were very favorable with the sixth gear being well received.

I wish! :) I might ride down to a car show in Puyallup to meet a friend showing his 1969 Mach I. I rode a little today but it was in the rain on new tires. Not the most enjoyable way to ride a new bike for the first time. :)

I bought a brand new CBR1000F from Hinshaw's in 1995. I rode it home to Maple Valley in a downpour. One of the joys of the Puget Sound.

The new ES is beautiful Adam!

I rode my brand new '14 last year (the crashed one) out of the dealership and made it no more than 1/2 mile before the skies unzipped on me. Of course, I took it very easy and made it home without incident. In the driveway, my Ultra Glide neighbor came over to see it and stated, quite mater of factly: "I can't believe you rode that brand new bike in the rain."

Huh?

Congrats Adam. Hope you have 300,000 miles of joy.

How many watts were saved by converting to LED headlights and taillights?

I've seen a 2016 Owner's Manual and it shows the reduced fuse size for the headlights -- 7.5 amps vs the 25 amps of the older models.

Was the output of the charging system changed?

I think you're asking a bunch of questions that are unknown until somebody does the legwork and reports back. Some of it you could decipher by looking through the part fiches.

For example, why don't you look up to see if the alternator part numbers changed from 2015 and report back?

I believe all of that info was mentioned in one of the reviews...JSNS

Other news for the 2016 FJR is the addition of cornering lights on the ES model, while both get the full LED treatment that saves 84 watts with the high-beams going. (The charging system keeps its 590-watt output from last year.)
And, the R/R remains the same. It does look like the R/R has moved back up to the Gen I position. I'll know more after visiting a Farkle Site in Newburyport Ma on Sat morning.
