No need for confusion...I keep waiting for this thread to die. Used to be I hopped on the bike and steered my way to my destination, now all I keep doing is realizing, am I pushing this hand pulling that hand leaning this way that one any way. Hell, I'm not riding any better or worse, just more annoyed. Yikes!!!
If we keep repeating ourselves we'll hit 99 posts in bout twenty minutes. Won't happen, though...I already bribed an admin with three sheep and bison fur teepee to shut 'er down at 98. <_<push right - go rightpush left - go left
what more needs to be said?
Wasn't it a bat that possibly startled the rider that lost it in the curve and passed on?Another Maxim..."RIDE the bike now - Freak Later" (after the bike is stopped) kept me out of harm's way as well when a bee flew into my full-face up in SW Wisconsin in the middle of a curve. This admonition was spoken of after one of our members passed on.
In any case, these tips CAN be helpful if you remind yourself of them before you set out on a ride.
Target fixation is one of the motorcyclist's worst enemies, especially through a curve. This technique...
...as well as being WELL aware that you "look where you want to go", not the danger you are trying to avoid saved me back in October of '05. (I was reminded of this technique in an FJRForum thread)
So, can we expect said admin to post a remake of Little Big Man?...I already bribed an admin with three sheep and bison fur teepee to shut 'er down at 98. <_<
How often do you really shift while in a turn?My question: Is there any reason the push should be used instead of pull?
How comfortable and controlled is your shifting in a large sweeping right-hand curve as you're pulling on that left grip?? It's awkward for me to even think about sqeezing the clutch lever as I'm pulling on the left hand grip
By PRESSING, your fingers are still free to use the clutch and/or brake lever (with all four fingers).
Very, very rare unless it is a smooth sweeper in which I can clearly see the end of.How often do you really shift while in a turn?My question: Is there any reason the push should be used instead of pull?

When my wife first wanted to try motorcylces, I tried to explain counter steerng to her. I pulled the front wheel off on my 10 speed and had her hold the axle while I spun the wheel. Then I had her turn the wheel to the right, and she felt the wheel lean left. Rotational momentum at work.
There. I did my part. #85.
