We stopped off in Cooke City to hydrate and gas up and then started our ascent onto Beartooth Hwy... it was a bit breezy and cool which made for perfect riding...
We were also fortunate to pretty much have the road to ourselves...
Just stunning...
Before we knew it, we had reached the Top of the World which of course has a store to purchase trinkets, t-shirts, and stickers... yes, I did partake in my part in keeping the store alive...
From where we came...
The wind was blowing pretty good at the top and you could hear this whirly-gig whipping around furiously...
We didn’t dilly dally too long as we knew our friends were gathering in Red Lodge and were looking forward to seeing them... so on we went over the spectacular Beartooth Hwy...
The downhill section... wheeeeee!!
We arrived at the motel and could see that there were a good many folks who had already arrived... I found my room pretty quickly... so named for the ladies that would be sharing the suite for the weekend and in memory of our Hubba Hubba Master... I'm sure this would have been his favorite room to visit...
I unloaded, had a quick shower to freshen up, and then headed into town with a few folks for dinner at a Mexican place called Bogart’s... one of my very favorite parts of these gatherings is seeing friends from all over the US and picking up like it was yesterday that we had seen each other...
I also got to see a friend who used to live in the Bay Area but moved to WY a couple of years ago, Nick (aka Moose which you can understand how he got that nickname by the size of his paws!) which was an added treat for the day...
