I can't give anyone else any grief. I rode the last 150 miles or so to get home with steel showing on a ride last fall. I wouldn't have thought it was possible, but I thought I'd get as close to home as possible before calling MOTOW. And to my surprise, I made it.
I've got about 1000 miles on my tires now, and my April trip will be about 4000. So it'll just depend on how much I get to ride between now and then.

I'll definitely try. I'm leaving on another excursion the following Friday so I may need to be saving tire. Or I could be trying to use up tire before putting a new one on. Tires are ruling my life right now.

Poor guy...
It's tough being me.

I weekend of frisky riding in Arkansas is rough on a set of tires, and that's my puzzle. I must have enough for a 4000 mile trip the following week.
I might show up for this AR run...if I can find it..ha

Old Guy, if you're doughtfull about your back tire at the time, stop over I have two used rears that'll make that run and get you back home.

Call me subscribed. I kind of wish it was a couple of weeks later - perhaps Easter weekend - which would give me the time off from work. It's not that I don't have vacation time - it's just that whenever I leave, the real world keeps going and upon my return, I get slammed. If the real world leaves with me, it's not so bad. Also, a couple more weeks may give us a better chance for a good weekend. Late March could be pretty nasty up there.

Regardless - there's plenty of good riding centered around the Hub. I think that would be a great place to "rally". If the weather is relatively mild, the Buffalo River and paddlers will be hogging up most of the Forest Service/ACOE/STate Park campgrounds. BTW - if anyone is interested in a good paddle - that would be something to be aware of.

The dogwoods will hopefully be budded and bloomed by then. That is something to see from inside the helmet.

It's kind of getting me excited.

Cav - please don't let my comments give you heartburn. It's your show, brother.

That's mighty nice of you. I'll keep that in mind.

pants, I'm the reason for this trip being the first weekend. I will be in your area on Easter weekend.

I did a quick search on Expedia for Hotels in Harrison. I got back quite a few but then noticed some are in Branson. But the price for some of the real good ones are 53 bucks for 2 queens. That has a Microwave and a Fridge. I am not sure if dealing with the traffic of Branson is worth it. It does get us near places we can walk to eat, and as others have stated, it is nice to have some variety. Maybe it is too far away from the riding being that Branson is about 40 miles North of Harrison. Those of you that have been in this area, please chime in with advice.

I was in Branson in 1992. We did more pool hopping than I thought was humanly possible. Wouldn't doubt if there was still an APB out on us for that.

Have you looked at Eureka Springs? I know it's old hat, but there are lots of places to stay and eat and other activities if the riding gets rained out.

Have not looked anywhere really. Not trying to re-invent the wheel. All I know is that people have raved about the riding around this area. I have only been to that area once before and that was as a senior in high school and we were chasing bikinis all week. Any pool that had even a semi-attractive girl in a bikini was where we were swimming.

We will get it figured out with the awesome advice from the Veterans of the Arkansas Hills. I don't even know what Eureka Springs is. All I know is that I know enough to know that I don't know.

But I do appreciate the advice.

I thought your post #1 mentioned The Hub?

I have been to several MC get togethers at the Quality Inn in Harrison, nice place with a restaurant next door and an adult beverage store across the the street.

What happened to the Hub that you mentioned in post one?

EDIT: Okay. that was a little harsh...but you dissed me and my well deserved tire rep....

Fixed it...
Agree, Wheatie and tires are a thing to behold.

I wish Arkansas was a few states closer, the tire king had me riding through there on my way home from EOM. I will return to Arkansas someday, nice roads. Have fun boys!

Like Mr. Wheaton, I thought the Hub was settled. But if you're looking for somewhere else and I can help, I'd be happy to. I live in Little Rock, I'm retired, I can reconnoiter ;)

Eureka Springs is about 40 miles west of Harrison and pure tourist trap. It's quite motorcycle friendly because motorcyclists spend money. Bargains can usually be found for lodging, and there are lots of restaurants. If it happens to rain the riding out for a day, there's other stuff to do.

I'd vote for The Hub simply because I've never been there, but there are a wealth of places to stay in that area.

A few have messaged me and said that the Hub was a little "tired" and that there was no place to eat within walking distance. It was also remarked that it was out in the sticks. I will stay anywhere the group want to. I like cheap, clean, and convenient. After that, it really doesnt matter. The Hub was something that first came up. It was a suggestion that is flexible. Heck, I would camp but that was shot down really fast by some of the others. LOL.

Eureka Springs and Harrison both are very MC friendly places, BUT, "Touring Traps"? IMO... Eureka Springs tops Harrison.

BTW the Hub has a Restaurant.

Ditto. I'd vote for Eureka Springs over Harrison, but either would be fine.

When you look up "Veteran of the Arkansas Hills" on Wikipedia, I think they have a picture of Old Guy.

Josh, make sure you add-in 187 into your ride plans, friggen gorgeous area and roads

Here's a link to the Arkansas part of my venture
I do remember reading that ride report with envy!! Sounds like we have some GPS wizards involved in the mix already. I hope we get on the same road over the bridge to Beaver. It looked really cool in pictures. In person would be even better.

Don't forget this road - to Mt. Judea.

Arkansas Hwy 7, just north of the intersection of Interstate 40.

They put up a new sign last year. The other one was shot to hell. Literally.

If I were riding down from Illinois I'd probably stay in Harrison or Mountain Home.

I've never been to the Hub, but Jasper is a small town and Harrison is a pretty good size town just up the road.

Be sure to come with fresh tires....

:)
