I visited Don early this week before leaving for our Mexico trip which he will not make. His Mac had quit and we talked about getting a new MacBook Air so he could communicate with everyone. I reformatted his hard drive, downloaded the newest OSX! So he was good to go.

The facility he is in is top notch. He knows everyone on a first name basis. He can walk well with a walker. His spirits are great and as always, he is looking forward. Yes, he has work to do to get back to where he was, but he will plow thru.

Go out of your way to make a phone call (480-440-4666) or send him an email ([email protected]). It can be awfully quiet in a rehab facility.

His friends are his friends are his friends.......

He does have his computer there, and I assume he is perusing the forums, but not replying because typing one handed would be too slow and speech recognition technology is too out there."

Speech Recognition Technology is still not good enough to understand drunken, drug addled Spanglish Irish Blarney.

Beemerdon what the heck is going on, I haven't been on the forum for a the last 6 months and I find out Bust has heart trouble, and you forgot to keep the shinny side up. Hope the healing process is progressing, what with St Paddys day coming soon, are you able to drink left handed?

Get well soon

Jack & Jane

Communicated with the old fat Irishman this morning and he will be going home on Monday... I asked of the two injuries (his leg and his shoulder ) which injury was the most difficult.... Here is his response ... "Absolutely the shoulder, the leg doesn't hurt me at all other than having to wear a leg immobilizer. The shoulder is stiff, sore and painful beyond belief.... Keep you chin up Irishman....If you would just eat a little pickled herring like us Danes, you will heal faster.

Ok, now that I was reminded that Saint Patrick's Day will be observed again another year, It just wouldn't be the same without some blarney posted by Don. Glad to hear that his OS X has been updated so I'm expecting he will be contributing his full share, typing with his left finger. Also, better select your fork Don, the Corned Beef is in the marinade and the cabbage is growing heads. Time to lift some weights and get the beer arm in shape, because the Guiness is chilling in the winter snow, getting ready for the spring thaw.

I want to thank all of my Friends here for the Support, Encouragement, Love and Compassion I've received from All of You!. It means the World to Me, Thanks Again.

Bad News: My right side is so torn up my off road riding days have come to an end, my Surgeon says in particular the shoulder cannot take dual sport riding anymore.

Good News: With diligent and constant therapy, both my knee and fractured shoulder should be up for street riding at Labor Day, Going to work hard to achieve this!

If you offered me a million bucks to tell you what caused the crash, I couldn't earn a penny! Approaching an uphill right hander on marble gravel, down I went HARD!

The Main Moto Event I am shooting for is FODS in West Virginia: Son Seth-Miss Donna-Granddaughter Rhianna and I could participate offroad in our Jeep Liberty SUV.

He's A-LIIIIVE!

Great to hear/read something from Frankendon!

Bet you're glad to be heading home, where you can wander out to the garage for some visual stimulation..er..Motivation!

Heal fast!

Don,

Just glad you are healing up. The other Irishmen on this board have not been able to keep the blarney production levels up to spec.

I guess yer doing everything left-handed these days. Try to keep up.

But seriously, my friend, get better soon...show them doctors what liars they are with regards to recovery time.

Glad to hear you're going home, sorry to hear it's going to affect your off road riding. Shoulders take forever to heal, DAMHIK. Good physical therapy as soon as possible will go a long way toward getting full mobility and strength back in your arm. Hope you make a full recovery.

Tom

Glad to hear you are on your way back to normal, Don.

We will miss you in Cedar City, but will drink a few for you since you cannot make it.

Hang in there bud. There are other ways to enjoy playing in the dirt...

:)

Good to see you posting. Too bad about having to give up off road cycling, but you are getting too old for that, anyway.

Jeeps are a lot of fun. Enjoy.

Sorry to hear that you're done on dual sports, Don, but thank God you still get to ride on the street. Looking forward to seeing you in that capacity again before the year is done. Best news is that you'll be sprung from the medical jail before St. Paddy's day. Damn sure that they weren't gonna allow the requisite libations (in nature or volume) that an Irisman of your forum stature requires on such a day.

Heal up and get back to all your bad habits, but pay no attention to that pickled herring prescription from a Dane who doesn't properly understand "pickled".

Looking forward to reading more incomprehensible Irish Spanglish blarney once you get home. I think most of us will understand if you PWI - it seems appropriate with that right wing so FUBARed.

Don, it is so good to hear that you are doing better. I am sorry that your off road riding has come to an end but the important thing is that YOU have not come to an end. I look forward to many more years of your participation on this forum. Most of all, I look forward to meeting you in person at one of the FJR events.

Okay, what I really look forward to are the Salma Hayek photos... Just kidding.

Don- I've broken both shoulders (different accidents, told both times "it's really hard to break a shoulder blade") and it started feeling pretty good after a week. Rehab at ~3 full release @6 weeks. Probably 10 weeks before I felt things were close to normal, a year till I thought 100%. The key I decided after the 1st one was to make sure I kept as much of my range of motion through the process- I was in a sling and told to "hold still" but once or twice a day while laying on my back would use my fingers to crawl my arm out and up as far up as I could. Made a world of difference in pain control (stopped meds after a week & a half) and rehab. Good Luck and, as you know, bones heal and chicks dig scars :) .
