Here's hoping to a speedy recovery!

As a couple of posts have asked...we're interested in the details as you're able and/or comfortable passing along.

Good luck, and please tell Carl that he's got a lot of people wishing him well!

Hi Jonnie,
Say hi to Carl for me and tell him haul his sorry *** out of that hospital just as soon as he can. Man o man, I just can't believe this. Tons of karma going your way!

Which hospital is he in?

Ralph
Carl is at ohsu on floor 13a room 52 bed 2. Room phone number is 503-418-1345. For those of you who know humane want to try calling. If he feels up to it he'll talk or I'll answer. Sorry Ralph missed your phone call.

Thank you to all of you for your well wishes. No one wants to hear about something like this. No new information yet. Thre is some discretion as to who is at fault. The police officer belives carl was going faster than he was based on skid marks but he had some low quality tires with bad stopping power. We'll keep you posted.

Like other have said way to many mishaps this summer, get well soon and get a lawyer, I'm stll dealing with the gal that rear ended me last August.

Take Care,

Marcus

Sucks.. I hope he recovers fine..

A frame of reference.. On June 10th I went down with my wife, we are fine, that is not why I am sharing.

At 45MPH we slid 274 feet and I had DAM GOOD tires on my bike.. Skid marks dont mean crapola

Give him my best, JuJu sent

Good point on the skid marks...since the bike has ABS (his does, right?)

I had a cop friend complaining once about how ABS has ruined their ability to judge people's speed after accidents.

Jonnie give Carl my best.

Guys keep Carl in your thought's and prayer's, he bought this some what wrecked FJR and has brought it back to life with very little resources, these two kids don't have alot but big hart's. Carl already has major back issues and don't need this extra stuff. So prayer and good mojo is going to be needed.

The police officer said that he had skidded around 44-50 I can't remember exactly. He said that his rpms where at 6 grand and he down shifted the bike from 4 gear which all doesn't make sense given the street he was on. The car poked it's front end around a van to see if it was clear and says that he never saw carl. Yeah. Were going to have to talk with a lawyer though.

Thanks again. OHSU contact information is above reply.

We offer our prayers that he will come out of this as good as new. Really sorry that this had to happen. Will be waiting for updates as they come in.

Gah I am so sorry to hear this. A friend of mine in Portland was run over while riding his bicycle to work and broke both of his legs -- let me see if his lawyer turned out any good and I'll pass the information on to you if you'd like.

Ya, do everything right and someone is asleep at the wheel can take any of us down. Sad to hear of the bad news. Hope for a speedy recovery... Brian

+1. Panman's got it right, Carl and his wife are good people, have enjoyed their company. Unfortunately, in the case of conflicting stories, you need to lawyer up pretty quickly to preserve your rights. Hope all is well and that Carl makes it through. Good thoughts are being channeled as I type.

Keep us informed on how things are going.

Thanks for letting us know. I good reminder for all of us to be on the lookout for those who are paying attention. My thoughts and prayers are with you guys. All the best for speedy and full recovery...

Carl and Jonnie, hang in there. Get good advice on the accident when the time is right, otherwise follow doctpr's orders and heal up quickly. You wills till be expected at the next tech meet.

Best of luck to Carl. As for the cops statement of facts mentioned above points to someone who does not like motorcycles. Fourth gear at 6k rpm you would be going around 60mph best guess, I say that cop needs a math lesson and slid no more than 50 feet... :confusedsmiley:
