Ummm, I'm thinking about maybe making at least part of this, if'n youse guys would'nt mind a Southern Mississippi boy crashing your party? Been wanting to make a road trip up to Richmond VA to visit my aunt, maybe I can tie this all together for my week of vacation this year. So, slapdaddy, fjrandy, mrbill and others, you mind if a newbie experiences his first fjr rally? maybe consider stopping by for about 2 nights either on my way up to Richmond or my way back?

O.K., I'm bringing my room with me (32' camper). No, I won't be towing it with the FJR!!

I'll be camping at the Julian Price Campground right along side the BRP near Blowing Rock and Boone.

Donaldb,

It will be great to meet up with you at the EOM! I'm sure there will be a lot of newbies and a few others from Mississippi too.

Not sure if I can make all days, but I'll be there...maybe 2upAre there any nat'l parks nearby for camping?
Cool,

Doughton Park 50 miles North of Boone on BRP

Crabtree Meadows 50 miles South of Boone on BRP

I've stayed at both - Very nice campgrounds.

Speed limit on BRP is 45, so if you go 55 these are about an hour away. You may want to stay in a private campground nearer Boone - see Zipper's post on the 16th.

Mr. Bill,

Got my reservations for Saturday and Sunday. Looking forward to September! My plan is to head to Boone after I abandon my wife at the in-laws in Sevierville TN Friday or Saturday :p

Alan

Lakeland, FL

I'm there. Reservations made.

Leaving Sunday before Labor day and doing some of WV. 1/2 point from eastern PA. 544 miles according to Map Quest.

2 up for the trip. Don't Laugh. Might trailer it, sometimes my neck gets so sore after repeated days I can't ride. I'm only 41 but have some neck-back issues at times.

Looking forward to a good time. See you there.

:p :p

Made reservations today for two rooms. Arrive Thursday the 7th, ck out following Monday morning. Me (mine is a 04A) and 3 friends are trying to make the event, subject to work, etc. My three friends don't have feejers but one is seriously considering purchasing one, at the moment he has a 1100 vstar, the other two have BMW's, one has a RT and the other has an R. I hope it is ok for them to attend and that everyone will make them feel welcome--just rib them a little bit! I have already explained they will just have to get use to riding in the back! ;)

They will fit right in with me on my Triumph Speed Triple.

Bill will probably hide us in the kitchen for the Sunday night dinner so we don't contaminate the Feejer crowd. :D :D

How much time were planning on taking to go down??? Wanna hookup?
I'm not sure yet. I'm still trying to put this one together, being commited to a few other long rides this year.

I'm trying, people, I'm trying.

Then again...I just HAVE to see this new Brit bike our loving traitor just bought. :bleh:

Come on, Randy, one more time. Can't help but think of canoeboy when planning for this event. He would drag your sorry arse there.

Anyway, since I'm now on a Triumph, I'm going to need a guy there with good wrenching skills, right?

See you there.

That's one main reason I have doubts about going. I REALLY miss the way George would just say.."let's go" and I'd never question it. He was allways the trip planner and navigator. It was easy when there were two of us. Now it's basically just me on these FJR rides/meets and it's tough to face the memories.

Also major thing these days is me being the "Mr Mom." Much tougher right now to plan way ahead, not knowing what will have to be done with my daughter.

But like I said, I'm workin' on it. ;)

Randy,

We could meet up on 209 at sunrise on Friday. I'm planning an express trip down and hope to get there by dinner. Trip back is dependant on weather, but leaving sunrise Monday - I'd like to ride up the BRP/SLD if it's not foggy and then slab home.

Of course I could go via NYC, but you know how I hate riding through the Bronx.

Hey Cool !!!!!

I'll put in for those vacation days asap!!!!! Last year was such a blast. Great people, super great rides and beautiful landscape. I've been wanting an excuse to get back to the Dragon. Thanx.

Was part of a ride that met up in Lexington, Ky. last year and meandered the rest of the way. Such fun. Hope that happens again this year.

Seeya there
