EOM Route Files Ready

I setup a temporary FTP site on one of my web servers. You can use InternetExplorer or most any FTP client of your choosing.

FTP Link to EOM Routes

NAME.gpx - MapSource/Garmin GPS Exchange file for uploading into your GPS.

NAME.gdp - MapSource/Garmin database file (v3) for 2610 and others.

v2 NAME.gdp - Version-2 Garmin database file.

OverviewMap.pdf - Printable/viewable Adobe Acrobat file of the overall route.

NAME-Directions.pdf - Printable/viewable Adobe Acrobat file of the brief, easy-read driving directions. READY!

NAME.est - Microsoft Street&Trips 2006 file for anyone using S&T and who wants to "do their own".

There are some other .pdf files included with EOM-4 that show enlarged detail for areas like New River Gorge Bridge etc. I highly recommend anyone using printed maps, to include all those PDFs in their map pocket. EOM-4 is a very complex route.

Jim Meadows is the architect of the routes. I'm just the "contractor" Heidi hired volunteered to build them. Heidi and Renegade have/are working through the painful written instructions. It's very much a group effort.

I do hope all the route files work out to be as good as Jim's original intentions.

Thank you! I got 'em. I have converted them to Garmin .gdb files. If anyone needs them in that format and can not get them converted, I can email them to you. Drop me a message with an email address and which ones you need. NOTICE....... Jeff has added the files in GDB format, so get 'em at the FTP site.

Curious... Do some Garmin GPS units require GDB format? I can easily recall the files in MapSource and save them as both GPX and GDB. If there is a genuine need for both formats, then I can post them both for everyone.

I have Garmin 2610 and it was only happy with the .gdb format. I hate to make more work for you, but it will help the 2610 owners. I also thought that not everyone had software to convert the GPX files, so I was going to just email the GDB files out. I've had one request already. Let me know..... just post here if you add that format, and I'll delete my message.

You couldn't put them all in one zip file? Just kidding, thanks for all the prep work you guys are doing. I would like to suggest to everyone attending EOM that we chip in to a bar tab for the ones that did the work for this event. That way they can drink for free (or until the tab runs out).

Yeah, (SIGH) I know... to be totally honest w/ you, I'm dreading going thru these things one more time. I see it as being a necessary evil, though. Really, Jeff & Matt (Renegade) have got to be WAY more sick of the text files than me.

Heidi's going to give them another once over... Apparently my cut/copy/paste, then try to interpret what the previous authors meant when they wrote what they did about route's I've never ridden leaves little to be desired.

That being said, we should be good to go shortly.
