https://www.longstreetcasino.com/ It is time to start planning for Death Valley Daze 2010. FJR Forum will be leaving on Friday, January 22nd from the Cracker Barrel Restaurant at Litchfield Park & I-10 at 0700 hours! A quick stop in Las Vegas!

We're returning to newly renovated Longstreet Inn, where we have stayed before and always had a great time partying!

More information required? Please contact Chuy Medina "El Burrito Ballerina" at [email protected] or Cell: 480-440-4666

Looks like a blast! Maybe I'll make it this time.

Is there a group rate? I see rooms are 2 nights for the price of one in September....

Bob, that would be great if you could make it; bring Old Yellow Domed One and madmike2 with you. I've sent an e-mail to the Inn to see if they'll give a group rate to FJR Forum and AZ Beemers Clubs. We've had a blast riding DV for many years!

Did you mention that 2 rooms for 1 night's cost special that we find so attractive?
Toe, I can definitely try! But, that September deal is due to it still being hotter than Hades in Death Valley/Amargosa Valley!

As much as I would like to join you my bank balance is still recovering after this years excursions.

Maybe I'll get a chance to come across later in the year as I would really like to visit DV again, or maybe the North Rim Grand Canyon

Sure would be a nice break from plowing snow. How much shit would I get for showing up with the bike on a trailer???

Dave, You know that if you jump a jet to Phoenix, you will not incur any bike rental costs for this trip! And your lodging in Phoenix is free - You will be staying at my house! You will have your pick of three BMW's, one Harley-Davidson and an FJR!

Your only costs would be the flight, food, gas, and nights up in Death Valley. Well, of course, your drinks and we do drink!!!

Brother Ray, You would get absolutely no shit from me for showing up with the bike on a trailer! I'd just be glad that you can make it. If Orestes flys over from England, one of you can have my Son Seth's room and the other sleep on the sofa.

There is plenty of room at my curb for a vehicle with trailer. But you know, you could also fly in and borrow one of my fleet!

I'd like to have responses from Death Valley Daze '10 attendees: If we can get 10 rooms we get a discount:

"Good morning! Our group rates are as follows with ten rooms or more $69 two queen beds facing the street side, $79 two queen beds facing the pond side, or $89 king mini suite facing pond side

What!?!?!?!? And not get to see the surprised look on his face when he MEETS Ray?

HDR, let's just say that Ray and I picked up FJRs and moved them at WFO in Park City. Our parking garage was VERY tidy and organized! ;)

January????? That's about 2 months earlier than I planned for 2010. The Sierra passes will likely be snowed in. We've gotten over Hwy 88 (Carson Pass)in March..... Donner will probably be open if it isn't storming. Ebbett's, Tioga & Sonora will all be closed, normally until Memorial Day Weekend. I suppose we could ride down to Bakersfield and take 152 to Lancaster.

NOTE TO FJR PILOTS: If you have great dirt and gravel roads skills like RenoJohn and dcarver possess, and the weather has been dry, you may want to ride Titus Canyon from Rhyolite to Death Valley. I have only ridden this road with BMW GS's, but I have always thought that if I had offroad abilities like RaidersMan or KowboyKarver, it could be done on an FJR!!!

Which bike do I bring if I am interested in going? GS or street?
I am thinking about it. Of course I'd love to go to all these rides, but logistics and economics get in the way too many times!

Jo, If my lady friend Rena can go to Death Valley Daze with me, I am taking "Ingrid" my BMW R1150RT. She will fly in to Las Vegas from Houston 1/22/10 and I will pick her up at McCarran Airport at 1300 hours and we will see everybody at the Longstreet Inn on Friday. We will spend Sunday night at Paris Hotel and see Bette Midler's concert at Caesar's Palace. She will get a return flight to Houston flying out at 1300 hours on Monday, 1/25/10.

However, if Rena cannot get away from work to come to DVD then I plan on taking "Salma Hayek" my BMW F650GS Twin. There are plenty of dirt roads to explore in Death Valley National Park and in the outlying areas.

https://www.desertusa.com/mag99/may/stories/titus.html Jo, if you bring your GS you have to ride scenic Titus Canyon! It is FSF rated and the topography is truly amazing! Take along beverages and snacks.

https://www.desertusa.com/video_pages/titus_dv_movie.html Here is a video of the DV Titus Canyon Road.

Here is a really great slideshow presented by my buddy Mike Froehlich showing what Death Valley Daze is all about. Mike is an incredible offroad rider so this pictorial is dirt oriented, but it does show the beauty of DV in the Winter. He's camping at Furnace Creek: #25.

Click on "Full Screen" for the best showing of this incredible picture fest. Going off road in Death Valley is truly a real blast!!

Great News! FJR Forum and AZ Beemers friend Dave Clarke from Chatham, England is flying over to join us on the Death Valley Daze 2010. Dave will be staying at Chuy Medina "El Burrito Ballerina" casa and will be riding Miss Lucy Liu; Chuy's 2003 FJR. Dave is booked in at Longstreet Inn and Casino. 5 riders have already secured their rooms in Amargosa Valley.

https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?s...=105188&hl= Dave is a great friend with Stef - teerex51, Dr. Bob Flanders and Big-Dan on our forums. Here is his Ride Report on the Pyrenees ride through Spain and France we did in 2008.

Per Post #1, I called the Longstreet Casino to make reservations for Friday (01/22/10) and Saturday (01/23/10). When I mentioned both the FJR Forum and the AZ Beemers group, I was told that there has only been one (1) reservation made so far for Friday night for one person, but "No" reservations have been made as of yet for Saturday night January 23rd.

I started thinking maybe I had called the wrong place, so instead of making my reservation then, I would verify I called the correct place and asked about the right dates, because in a previous post it was stated that 5 people had made reservations there so far.

Are my dates and place to stay (Longstreet Casino) correct?

I will make the call as soon as I hear back!

DonS: per my email, I am awaiting word back from Orestes concerning after Death Valley Daze!

Big-D

Hi Dan, I was looking for verbal committment for ten rooms from individuals before I put my credit card to secure those ten rooms. There are five committed to this verbally, including yourself, but I wasn't going to commit my card # until certain.

I'll call again tomorrow and explain situation to the desk about your phone call. Are 5 others interested in the DVD 2010???
