On Saturday, Feb 20th at 11am I'll have already snowshoe hiked a mile off road in Mt Rainier National Park and will be in process of digging snow caves with my son and about 9 other Boy Scouts. :crazy: Yes, we will be sleeping in those caves! :cold: I'm guessing that's as far removed from geek tech stuff as you can get. :lol: But I will have my Garmin Rino 530 and Rino 130 along in honor of your GPS discussions.

Oh yea, I won't be able to make the geek day.

Whereabouts in the Seattle metroplex should I book a room that will be reasonably convenient to the venue? (I will have my Zumo with me so should be able to find it!)

I'm partial to this place as I used to stay here on and off for almost 2 years of traveling to this area.

Otherwise, I'll suggest checking Bing Travel to see a variety of locations and rates. You'll want something in Redmond or Bellevue as being "in Seattle" will take you roughly 30 minutes to travel to the meeting location and coud be longer depending on traffic. That time of day on Saturday, though, it should still be fine, so if you want to stay downtown, by all means, enjoy.

The zip code where the office is located is 98052. I will post an address/directions when I have confirmation for the room itself. If you end up at the Marriott I recommended, it'll be approx 7 MINUTES door to door.

I'd recommend staying at Mt Rainier National Park friday night. Just hike over to Reflection Lake and dig a snow cave to spend the night in. :lol: :cold: :blink: It'll be WAAAY cheaper than that hotel that Sportguy is recommending!

Make sure to give me the GPS coordinates where the cave is located because this will save me some digging on Saturday.

No kidding, I would pitch in towards sportsguy's airfare if we could get him to come down to So-Cal; that would be a fantastic idea. I would ride over from Phoenix for this kind of training. When it comes to computers: I am a complete box of rocks, as computer challenged as a person can be! Fairlaner as our computer instructor???

Booked - thanks for the link Sportsguy! Sylvia and I haven't spent much time in Seattle since the days (30 years ago?) when we lived in North Vancouver and our boys were young and we participated in many "Seattle soccer exchange" weekends. We're looking forward to seeing some sites next weekend when I'm not learning how to use my Zumo (and Bing maps) more effectively.

Really appreciate the tip on snow-caving Harald - not this time - but maybe after I get my new Rino! We took three sons all the way through Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts (leaders, Group Committee) - we did lots of summer camps, hiked the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island etc. - but I was always too busy for those snow caving sleepovers on the local mountains somehow!

Well, we are working on ways to record the event and if I can get the Live Meeting set up, folks can dial into the event on the toll-free bridge, and watch on their computers.

This option would require folks to download and install "Live Meeting", though, so some might opt to skip this.

Also working on trying to find a way to record direct to a DVD, too. I just don't have the equipment to record it myself.
