I had considered it, but it doesn't fit well into the ride, especially considering our home base is in West Lebanon.

IMO Bear Notch Rd is a far better ride.

Right now the 2010 Green route will look much like the route I did on our first Green Mountain Ride in 2008 (Brandon Gap, App Gap and Smugglers Notch). I've got some more planning/ test running to do before I nail it all down. And that will have to wait till after the wife and I get back from our NC bike trip July 14th. I'll get the routes to Fred so he can lay it out. And Fred, will your routes travel any "dirt roads"?

I may take on Hurricane Mtn Rd and Evans Notch (Rt 113) this weekend. If I do, I'll report in on the condition.

Perhaps Bear notch too. I rode it a couple times last year and it had some pavement warts to watch out for. Still a fun road however.

Has anyone been north of Colebrook NH this year? Just wondering about condition of the roads.

Bear Notch Road is PERFECT!! It was repaved last fall. I rode it once this year already and it didn't suffer too much heaving over the winter. Go mid week and you'll be able to buzz it at whatever illegal speed you are comfortable with (no traffic). Weekends, not so much...

My experience north of Colebrook (none this year) is the roads are pretty much always beat up and they are relatively boring. But at least the traffic is less...

Took the long way to Rangeley a few weeks ago. 16 to 113 to 2 to 26 to 16. 113 keeps getting more and more warts after each passing year. However the day was so nice I couldn't bring myself to turn up the road to camp and continued on to Straton then took 27 up to the border. 27 was redone a few years ago and has no rips or warts yet. SWEET :yahoo:

Its too far into the future for me to give a definitive answer but I would really like to make it to this ride. Sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm still planning on it . . . but the fun of being self-employed make it hard to plan so far out sometimes . . . so far so good . . . and it doesn't interfere with any of my son's hockey camps . . .

This sounds like a great ride, and it looks like it might even work on my calendar. This would be my first group ride since joining the forum, and having been to Smuggler's Notch before (sadly, in a cage), I can't wait to see that region from my FJR!

VanHarlan, I'm not sure if you're looking for a riding partner on the way up (and if not that's cool), but I'll be running right past Rochester to get there...

Great. Look forward to a great ride! And don't forget to make reservations at the hotel before the deadline in July.

Also, keep your fingers crossed for good weather, because of the hotel commitments, this ride will go off rain or shine.

Last year it was a roasty hot one, but dry. At least the time spent up in the mountains was a bit cooler.

That would be great - last time I stopped around the Albany area to ride up with RoadRunner. Where in Western New York are you coming from? I may not know if I'm going to make it until a couple days prior to the ride . . . just the way my life operates . . .

I'm about an hour and a half east of you as the Thruway runs (about 20 miles south of Buffalo). I was figuring on a Friday departure and then a Sunday afternoon/evening return (don't quite have enough vacation days to take Monday too). I understand about the committment. Been there! Keep me posted. And if you ever want to meet up for a weekend ride sometime, just give me a shout.

Friday to Sunday would be my plan too . . . August is typically my slow month . . . however, I'm loading up on inventory right now & have a lot of houses for sale . . . 90% chance I'll make the ride . . . I'll keep you posted . . .

Yes folks....don't forget to get your reservations before the July 18th deadline!

So it sounds like a couple of Upstate folks will have to leave mid-day (at the latest) on Sunday and be heading west? Anyone else have to leave on Sunday? If so which direction is home?

I only bring this up because Tom and I were discussing which order to run the two day's routes, and were considering flipping the order from last year and running Greens on Saturday, then Whites on Sunday. But, if more people leaving on Sunday are headed westward we should just them Whites and then Greens, so you'll have a head start toward home.

Either way works for me.

Same for me. It's no problem which order we run them. So let us know what you guys want.

We will be heading south back home on Sunday. If I remember we cut the Greens ride short last year. I have seen most of NH since I lived there for 25 years. My choice would be to do as much of Vermont as possible. That said whatever happens is O.K. with me also.

If I am on two wheels I am happy.

Either works for me too . . . I plan on riding the whole route . . . even if it means a lot of saddle time on Sunday . . . chances are I'll grab the closest slab and rocket home on that . . . time to order up at Alaska Leather and get my sheep skin butt pad . . . finishing closer to home would be better, but what ever works out best for the ride is fine with me.
