Mexico shakedown ride. My KTM ran perfect, even at altitude (13,000)

Going to Ouray the last week of August if any you boys want to come out and play!

Alder trail, this was a gut buster boys. If it gets harder than this in Mexico I'm in trouble!

fjrrider: Great photos and congratulations on your KTM performing just fine at 13,000 feet; we won't be even close to that in Mexico's Copper Canyon. Wowser, if our trek West of Batopilas and El Divisadero looks like your pictures Number Two and Three: I am going to bring along my old Army folding shovel, so you guys can bury me! Yikes, that is steep!!

Shiny,

I have an idea for you.

Why don't you UPS your stuff to me before

the trip and that way you won't have to carry it all down.

We can then take my truck and trailer to El Paso.

When we return I can send your dirty clothes back to you UPS.

I think this will save you a lot of weight on the trip down.

On another note I put Steel brake lines on my KLR and loved them.

Joe

Don, You and Brian can come down to Tucson and we can all go in one

truck if you want. We can talk about this more at SWFO.

Joe

Hello Joe, Shiny and I talked about this a lot last month when my Son Seth and I stayed with him in Roseburg, Oregon. Here's what may happen: My AZ Beemers Club owns a large 4-wheeled enclosed toy hauler (with AZ Beemer club logos front, sides and back), it can carry 2 BMW K1200LT's, 3 BMW R1200RT's or 4 dual sport bikes around the size of our bikes.

AZ Beemers Club President Brian Boles, riding along with us, has a V-10 Dodge pickup, a real brute of a truck; with a covered camper shell on the back. It is looking like BB will pick up Shiny and I, with our bikes and gear, at my home in Chandler. Then, we will swing by your house in Tucson to get you. We all team drive to El Paso! What about this plan, Bro??

This sounds good to me. I was just thinking for us all not to drive the bikes to El Paso.

This works well for me.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe, I'm going to keep my new Dunlop 606's pristine on Salma Hayek, my BMW F650GS Twin; I'm even trailering Salma up to Walker Lake, Nevada for FODS 2010 Meetup in October!

Well I'm in OKC. Here's some pictures of the trip so far.

This first day I did the tour of Alabama. Lots of dirt riding out there. I rode about 600 miles in 12 hours with a lot of it being dirt roads. It was HOT.

The second day I just slabbed it from Tupelo MS to OKC. That was 9 hours of riding all highway in 100 + temps. If I haven't mentioned it yet it was damn HOT!!! :dribble:

Now looking at what FJRrider is doing in his pictures of CO. I'm kinda of concern with our little trip coming up in a couple of weeks :dribble: :dribble: .

What ever happens I'm really looking forward to it!!!!

Fun ride except for the heat, I take it? 600 miles on that bike in that heat? You are a better man than me. The bike looks awesome. :clapping:

As for Wolfman, 5 minutes ago I ordered expedition saddlebags and a double-ended expedition dry bag for travel, tent and camping supplies. I'll hold off on other luggage like panier bags to see if I'll actually need it.

Keep the RR going. As for CO -- that'll make you a better rider or kill ya, I guess. :D

Is it Titanium? Bustanut once told me if you masturbate onto a titanium pipe and then get it too hot, nasty color changes happen. :dribble:

Nahhhh. You just aren't that nasty. I don't know why that happened to your pipe. ;)

Here's a good idea for you peeps.

Get the least experienced dirt rider drunk then offer up a 'nice dirt road'...

The rest is up to you!
