Here's a good idea for you peeps.Get the least experienced dirt rider drunk then offer up a 'nice dirt road'...

The rest is up to you!
Hey - don't knock it. Confidence from a bottle often helps (initially). I was challenged to ride a lap of the campsite on Andy's WR250. 39" seat height. 26" inseam. Suitably fortified, I did a rolling side mount, completed the lap of the camp then a rolling dismount WITH the bike upright at all times.

Don't think I would have done that sober.

Shiny,I have an idea for you.

Why don't you UPS your stuff to me before

the trip and that way you won't have to carry it all down.

We can then take my truck and trailer to El Paso.

When we return I can send your dirty clothes back to you UPS.

I think this will save you a lot of weight on the trip down.

On another note I put Steel brake lines on my KLR and loved them.

Joe
I'm not sure how I missed this post Joe, but shipping some stuff down to you sounds like something I just might do. The trailering is a no-brainer! I will absolutely take you up on that offer.

I just got SS lines in from the Brown truck a couple days ago. Now to get off of call and find 'me' time to get my radiator guard and remaining farkles on...

But the on-call pay is allowing me to buy this stuff, so it goes both ways. Now to find the money for the suspension. FJRay says he'll help me with the knucklebusting to upgrade the suspension -- when I find the cash to buy a good shock and fork upgrades..

Hello Joe, Shiny and I talked about this a lot last month when my Son Seth and I stayed with him in Roseburg, Oregon. Here's what may happen: My AZ Beemers Club owns a large 4-wheeled enclosed toy hauler (with AZ Beemer club logos front, sides and back), it can carry 2 BMW K1200LT's, 3 BMW R1200RT's or 4 dual sport bikes around the size of our bikes.
AZ Beemers Club President Brian Boles, riding along with us, has a V-10 Dodge pickup, a real brute of a truck; with a covered camper shell on the back. It is looking like BB will pick up Shiny and I, with our bikes and gear, at my home in Chandler. Then, we will swing by your house in Tucson to get you. We all team drive to El Paso! What about this plan, Bro??
Shit! That stroke I had wrecked havoc with me. This is a great plan. I get to hear old-farts tell of all the good-old-times off-road for hours on end. Sounds like a great time. :yahoo:

Hola Joe, Just ship Shiny's dirty skivvies to Bust and Bluesy; they said that they would pay big bucks to have a few pairs each!!!

All I'm going to say for now is that what ever pictures FJRrider (Scott) decides to post or says, that it is not me but someone else that may look like me!

I really hate rocks and and it's all Scott's fault..... :eek:mg2:

FIXED

It is true those malcontents continue, and fail, to wear big-boy underpants. Jealousy is sooooo ugly.

That is the ONLY way they'd get in my pants, the little perv's.

:lol2:

Jillybean, I'd pay to see an encore of that!

ChrisD, Rushes (Russ) and myself took a little Mexico shakedown ride. Russ got some major problems worked out on his KLR. ChrisD got lots of practice pickin himself and that katoom off the ground. Chris rode that 990 like he thought it was a 250 or something!

We had to stop and get us some low priced drugs before we took off.

ATENCION: I have some very BAD NEWS to report, my best Mexico riding friend Brian Boles will not be able to make this trip with us. Sadly, his wife Melanie has been having severe seizures that now prevent her from driving; prognosis is unknown. she would be helpless in the event of an emergency if Brian left her unattended: If he goes on the Copper Canyon Expedition Trek with we Cabrones.

GOOD NEWS: Situation with Mel's illness does open up an opportunity for someone from our FJR Forum to join us on this once "Sold Out" trip. Call Skip ASAP if you want to attend: 1-800-233-0564!

This event is recommended for those who have already participated on a MotoDiscovery Copper Canyon or Road to Reàl Expeditions and wish to return for a more intensive and challenging off pavement adventure. The Sierra Madre Occidental beckons the moto-adventurer to explore its remote canyons, tackle its wide rivers ascend its towering peaks, and navigate through its arid chaparral. Along the way you will encounter those who live off the land; the cave dwelling Tarahumara, the Mayo and the Tepehuan Indians. If you love to ride, don’t mind getting dirty, and love Mexico as we do, then let this be your next motorcycle adventure.

The following highlights are representative of what you will encounter on this advanced Copper Canyon ride.

Highlights of Itinerary (Revised August 18, 2009)

Special Notes:

This event is limited to nine (9) riding guests and is intended for experienced off road riding enthusiasts. Motorcycles are to be street legal and a recommended limitation of 650 c.c. Non- riding guests may join the Expedition in the support vehicle on a space availability basis.

The concept of this event is to get you to the best riding as quickly as we can. To do this the tour gathers in El Paso, Texas where MotoDiscovery will provide transportation of bikes and tour participants to Creel and our base for beginning the Explorer. Less pavement, more dirt. The Copper Canyon is four times larger in size than the Grand Canyon of the USA. In actuality, the Copper Canyon is but one of a series of canyons that seem to collide and intersect for thousands of square miles, a geological confluence of high mesas, steep gorges, arid chaparral in its depths and cool pine forests at its heights. It will all be yours to explore. The pavement will run out quickly and then it is on to Cerocahui from where we descend to Urique, a village founded by Conquistadores in 1690 situated along a river and in a canyon of the same name. It is the deepest canyon of the Sierra Tarahumara complex. Like a number of villages, here Spanish Colonists discovered silver and gold. Urique is not your normal tourist town. The decent into this canyon is dramatic. After tackling the Copper Canyon region there will be two nights on the Sea of Cortez to relax, get a little sunshine, enjoy some sea food and prepare man and machine for the return leg to Creel. Before heading into the high Sierras, there will be a single night in Alamos, a stop that has provided MotoDiscovery riders with tastes of Colonial charm for decades. It will be a welcomed stay, civilization with some exquisite dining and comfortable lodging.

Chinipas is a hidden Sierra Madre town founded in 1626 that enjoyed a mining boom through much of the 18th and 19th century. The population today is not much more than a thousand and getting there will be a challenge. But once there you will certainly know you have found the real Mexico. You have to ford the river first, always a heart thumping and fun experience. Returning to the area of the Copper Canyon rim, the group reunites with the support vehicles that will transport bikes and road tested riders back to the USA. Includes

11 nights of best available hotel/lodge accommodations

Transportation of participants and motorcycles round trip from the border to Copper Canyon region

Yes I did, I ran out of gas about 10 miles before Mena, I carry a 6' clear hose in my tool belt so all we had to do is pull the Valdez along side and siphon off about a gallon to get in. No big deal that still left Russ with 8-9 gallons or so. I think were gonna have a few KLR's on this trip and gas on the sweep truck, there should be no problems with getting gas down there.

YAMAFITTER BILL! YAMAFITTER BILL! YAMAFITTER BILL! YAMAFITTER BILL! Saw your PM to me, but I'm heading out the door on a ride. All of the info is here! Russ por favor, can you send him this link!

Made contact with Bill - yamafitter up in Canada and I also called Skip of Moto Discovery to let him know that Bill is considering joining us in November. Skip will hold Brian's spot for Bill for a weeks time!

You guys need to promise to wait for me though since I am just a stupido gringo who can't even speak english properly. I blame this on watching American TV from Buffalo during my formative years before Buffalo burned down.
