Great news! You've waited a long time. The balance of time and money is a real trick. When working I had plenty of cash, but didn't have time to ride...when not working, I have plenty of time but no money. So, I guess, the next beer is on you?

Hey Tom, ride on over...I've got a fridge full of beer, that I'm not allowed to drink. I hate to see it go bad, also had to give my cigars away.

Cool! You can do pharmaceuticals while I drink your beer. That could work for me!

Thanks, guys. No, I will not be moving to NYC. That's just where the founder of the (VERY small) consulting firm I'll be working for lives. Sorry, OM - looks like Bust is gonna have to be yer assless chaps model. Since this will be a consulting gig, it means I will be traveling a lot. I figure I'll be on the road at least 40 weeks in 2015 and will be going to wherever the clients are - Ft. Worth, Texas, for starters. While it will be a lot of travel during the week, I will still be home for the weekends.

Tom - yes, the next beer is on me.

Joe - Sooze and I will be passing through next week. If there is any leftover beer, we would be happy to stop by to ensure it is disposed of properly. And bummer aboot the stogies, but good on ya for doing things right so that you heal quickly and properly.

jmdaniel - I have been in your shoes, my friend. Even though they have you in their holding pattern, make sure you do not allow yourself to be pulled into their holding pattern. Always keep things in the pipeline. Over the last 15 months, I have interviewed for positions that I knew I was a perfect fit for ... I nailed the interviews .... and after no communication for over two months, was finally very curtly informed that I was not selected. I felt like I couldn't catch my breath for two days. So keep moving - keep your pipeline filled, and talk to anyone and everyone. This new gig I am heading in to came around strictly through networking.

Very cool Andy. I feel like I'm traveling your same road. I should clarify I still have some consulting work, mainly from former clients and contacts in California. It has been nice for traveling to CA occasionally and brought in enough income to keep us from hitting the retirement funds. Still was not an expected development. Really glad to hear you're back on the horse.

I know that only too well, have been fooled in the past, have slacked off, and what was a sure thing has evaporated. I tell people now that to keep throwing lines in the water, and to never stop until not only is the fish in the boat, it has been cleaned, breaded, cooked over a roaring campfire, and in my belly. I would add "turned into poop", but this is a family board, (sometimes...).

Well, I wasn't selected. Turns out one of the candidates had been an instructor at another nuke for more than 7 years. I was the first loser. Still, it was good to freshen the resume, practice the interviewing skills, and learn what could have been better.

Glad you're looking at the bright side, dc. If nothing else, you got to hear all of us geniuses spout off about interviewing techniques, etc. That's something you just can't buy anywhere!
