Good vibes been flowing westward all morning. Assuming the interview is at 0900 Pacific, you should be rolling in about now. Rawk it, dcarver.

Give them best line of BS ever.

Just back from the interview. I felt it went very well. There are 7 contestants, and only one queen. Now then, where is that tiara?

iVew lasted just under 2 hours with typical corporate questions (describe your response to situation A,B,C) and then a 15-20 minute presentation. I used MS PowerPoint with embedded video and animation, with narration over the top. It was funny, I gave a presentation on a presentation I'd earlier given the top dogs (extended leadership team).

Long of short, I had a blast. Should know results by end of next week.

I hope it works out well for ya, Don!

Tom - holy schnikes! That sucks beyond belief! Stay strong, buddy - things will work out. Remember how I said that I was being flown to NYC for a meet? Well, it worked out - I got offered a job on Monday. I start on January 5.

Man, if you had fun then good things should happen. Fingers crossed for a Merry Xmas in Creston.

Ya, hope things work out for ya Don. Hmm, when I was in Templeton a couple of years ago we couldn't connect because you were interviewing then too. If my flaming ******* of a boss keeps up at this rate I'll be looking again real soon.

Congratulations Andy! I assume you will be migrating east? If so, we will have to find a NERDS shirt so you fit in

I used to live in Palisades NY and commuted in to NYC; when done by bus and the A Train it isn't real bad.

In this day and age, working for an outfit in NYC doesn't necessarily mean living there.

I work for an outfit headquartered in Wisconsin, working from above my own garage here in New Hampshire. My supervisor lives in Michigan (somewhere) and his boss lives in the PNW somewhere.

Telecommuting is all the rage. It beats having to move to somewhere awful.

PS - Congrats to Andy on the new gig, and good juju to Don on getting his.

I was a member of a panel interview in the last year or so. We had 2 applicants show up on the day I was working it. One guy was a service member who showed up in his BDU's with a horrible arrogant attitude. Myself and most of the panel are prior military and the organization as a whole is very pro military but to show up for an interview like that is unacceptable. His attitude sealed it though.

The next guy showed up in jeans and a blazer, no tie. He seemed desperate and talked about money and his need for a good paying job more than his qualifications. Asked quite a few questions about our pay scale. He had no good answers to our questions. A train wreck to watch.

Neither went any further in the process. I don't get it. All you have to do is Google interview etiquette or read a book. The tools are out there.

Anyways, I don't think it matters where you are in the que. If you stand out, (in a good way) then that's all there is.

Great news! You've waited a long time. The balance of time and money is a real trick. When working I had plenty of cash, but didn't have time to ride...when not working, I have plenty of time but no money. So, I guess, the next beer is on you?

Or you could just by pass the interview and look for work in Texas. There is so much work there, they are just hiring as fast as they can. And paying really well too! There are worse places to live than Austin or San Antonio. Sure the riding isn't the best, but it beats starving.
No, please don't. We are full... No offense, but the traffic in Austin would need to vastly improve, just to not totally suck.

I've been OOW since 7/2, for the second extended period in the last two years. I actually get a lot of traffic on my job inquiries/resume, phone and in person interviews, but I can tell you it's a strange hiring environment out there. One of the companies in play right now is a company that I actually emailed to tell them I WOULDN'T be applying for a position there. No ****. I've interviewed with them three different times, (now four), dating back to 2007. The third time was in August, and I got the typical blah, blah, "you would be a great fit here, we just don't know exactly where", BS, and no offer. That same position pops up in early November, I write the email to the HR contact, telling her I wouldn't be applying, and she calls three weeks later, telling me they want to talk with me. There is no good ending (yet) to this story, they have me in a holding pattern, after two phone interviews and an onsite in Dallas.

And the beat goes on...

Hey Tom, ride on over...I've got a fridge full of beer, that I'm not allowed to drink. I hate to see it go bad, also had to give my cigars away.

/\/\/\/\ You don’t get an offer like that every day! A bit of a distance to ride for it, but still…

Okay, back on topic - Good luck to all job applicants and successful candidates!
