Your all a bunch of pansies, man up, theres nothing like the smell of burnt rubber comming off your boots.

Adds to the adventure,

Dave

I think he said it smelled like pork. Nothin' like pulled pork BBQ with a beer on a hot day.

But wait, I digress...Fred, it's all about the chrome. Maybe you can add some chrome flame doo-dads to your smoker?

Ahh Smoked ribs and Beer! Strap on a rack of ribs as a protective exhaust cover. A tasty treat at the end of the ride!

Hey gang... I'd love to go for a ride this weekend, but, you know...

I have to polish my chrome!

Good job there Bling Boy :p

I guess the OP must have succumbed to his burns, he has never been heard from again; glad to see that you are preventing this kind of fatal injury to yourself and passenger.

Safety 1st!

Now that I'm safe from future devastation, I'm going to have to call the NTSB and register a complaint that Yamaha did put this heat shield on the left pipe from the factory. What the heck were they thinking?

I think all the 1st and 2nd Gen owners should call twice (once of each side).

Geeeezzz Fred, I am disapointed you didn't make a tin can prototype or something up out in the shop first.

Fellow tinkerer,

Dave

I might have, Dave, but... I'm fresh out of chrome plated steel at the mo'.

Then again, maybe an aluminum beer can guard would have been even better... leave the logo on for effect!

Well, I was just going to suggest a pre-formed product that could be shaped and adapted to the task but Fred beat me to it. I was thinking something like this would have real class to go with his fancy red FJR ---

While I certainly like ionbeam's beer can heat shield, I can't help thinking that a heat shield with a Yamaha cutout would provide a burn mark of the three tuning forks. That could be passed off as an intentional branding instead of an "Oops! Forgot about the hot pipe!" moment.

PS: My choice of beer can would be a 420 from Sweetwater.
