If I had a bracket and the side of a miller high life or PBR can fabbed up, I'd put that on immediately.

Is it just me, or does the beer can heatshield appeal to anyone else?

They're aluminum, so they'd dissipate heat quickly, but they're flimsy and would certainly need structural support.

BUT ... If you could arrange a snap-on/snap-off attachment, you could change them out after they faded or whenever they got crunched, protecting someone from the hot pipe. You could change them seasonally -- like a porter in winter and a light citrus thingy in summer. You could change them regionally when touring: a Harpoon in New England, a Sweetwater in the Southeast, Abita, Lone Star, Anchor Steam, Black Dog Ale. You could change them to whatever your new girlfriend likes to drink.

Damn! This idea could make millions of dollars if properly marketed to Harley riders.

I am a fricking GENIUS.

Oh ****...Now Uncle Hud is a "genius." Be careful Don. It's gonna snow in Phoenix.
Well, he did buy an FJR so he must be... Wait a minute. You and I both bought FJRs and at least one of us is dumb as dirt.

I am not smart enough to figure out which one of us is the dumb one.

I see a promising market for a creative entrepreneur

Brackets for attaching beer can heat shields.

By the way, the bottles don't work so good.

Dammit, does that mean you're a fricking genius, too?

Are you two done with your Mensa meeting? We need to get back to the all important topic of this poor *******'s horrible leg burn. This is serious business. Without taking the proper precautions this could easily happen to... Nevermind. I still don't see how the hell it happened.

You know what's funny? If a girl is a "mensa"in Spanish, that means she's dumb. "Menso" is for boys. As in, "Don't be so dammed mensa."

OP is just lurking for now. I hope eventually he will join in the teasing. Lets face it he has earned his entry patch.

No hard feelings i hope,

Dave

He's gotta know that trolling is for kids and we's just playing.

I'm just glad he didn't burn his **** on that muffler. The avitar from hell.

I agree that the OP has earned his prospect patch. For one thing, that burn looks wicked painful and I sincerely hope it's healing well. He should also be somewhat proud that his thread is 5 pages long and still has a head of steam.

(Jeez, wheatonFJR, I don't want to know how anyone could possibly burn their **** on a hot muffler, but the thought makes me admire your imagination.)

I have a 2015 ES model and I've burned my leg twice. Both times wearing shorts of course. Once at the gas station and once putting it up on the centerstand. I was thinking about wrapping the exhaust/muffler with some header wrap.

I guess since the O.P. disappeared, you'll have to do as the sacrificial lamb...What a maroon! First for wearing shorts on a FJR, second for burning your leg. Hopefully the results are not as graphic as the original.

Probaby more efficient to wrap the leg with header wrap. Right to the core of the matter.

I dunno... even before I was a power ranger ATGATT koolaide drinker, I never had an urge to ride a motorcycle in shorts.

Not sure I'd like such a strong breeze ventilating the junk. Not the sort of "********" I'm looking for, you know?

On a more serious note (B flat?)

I do ride down to my Marina in shorts, even swim trunks. It's a 4 Iron chip away and I could hit it easily from my house with a 2 fingered curve ball. I also ride my bicycle down sometimes, no ATGATT on either. I know going just 15mph is no excuse, more-so the lazy in me knowing in 20 seconds it will come right off. So, in this statement, I cannot attest to heat riding in shorts since I never get out of 2nd gear.
