Maiden Voyage on the New '05, or,

It was a beautiful California spring day, so Gfran and I took a little ride uphill. The winter rides have pretty much stayed near sea level, so this was a good chance to see those mountain roads we all love so much for the first time in a while. It was in the 70s in the valley, and beautiful sunshine all the way over the Sierras as we rode up 50 to Lake Tahoe, had a nice lunch at Harrah's, and then home via 88. THREE passes in one day! (Echo, Logan and Carson) Take that, Cello II!! Couple of shots to remember it by:

The Echo Summit Lodge, privately owned by the California Alpine (hiking) Club, bought in 1952 for $10,000! Tahoe beyond.

What did I say? Snow in California, or not?

No problems. Roads were clear, weather was perfect. Same today, rode up to Auburn to escort J.B. out of the hills (49 to 193 to 49 to 16) A LOVELY day. :yahoo:

Echo summit is at the top of Hwy. 50 just above South Lake Tahoe (Sac-to-Tahoe route).
