Total of 30 years in the Canadian Forces. Started off as an Infantryman in 72, transferred to Mobile Support Equipment Operator in 79, Personnel Selection Officer in 83, Social Work Officer in 92, retired from the Regular Force in 03 when I won a competition to work for the Navy as a civvie doing much the same as I did in uniform but with a lot less stress and pressure. Kept my name on the Reserve List but haven't been active, although I did tell them I'd consider doing a deployment to Afghanistan or somewhere, or more preferably to sea.

I sort of miss wearing the uniform and going to sea, at least until the pay and pension cheques get deposited into my bank account and I realize getting out ended up being the equivalent of a $50k pay raise :D

Wife still active duty so I'm following her around for a couple more years

Not a military, but I am returning a favor by teaching MSF at the Great Lakes Naval Station for military guys. There is way too many of you come back all pumped up and jump right on the bike with out any training and you know the results. :(

Have a buddy doing a tour in Iraq as we speak.

Stay safe.
