Some of us were forced to get out of bed early on Saturday (0530), ride 60 miles to meet other "early risers" (Bluestreek & exskibum) and then suffer the torture of following "The Dad" (Ridemaster, master planner, el jeffe, leader dude) Bluestreek up Hwy 99 to lunch in Red Bluff, then cross over I-5 and take Hwy 36...
YES, we DID stop at THE SIGN and take some pictures of the bikes and some of the people (I can't post photos on this motel computer but they will be forthcoming once we are home).

... :yahoo: Hwy 36 to Hwy 3 North :clapping: to Yreka.

Some (edit) 348 miles for me on twisting and winding moutain and valley roads.

Oh dang! Here at the hotel (after dinner at the Black Bear Diner--pics by FJRob to be posted) are Bluestreeks, excskibum, mm2, FJRay, FJRobs, Nightshine, & Highlanders.

I wish more of you could have joined us.

Since you are not here....we'll endure riding Hwy 96 to Hwy 299 back to Weaverville, then Hwy 3 South to Hwy 36 West to Fortuna. Alas....someone has to do it for you. :D

Neener-neener-neener! ;)
Great job Mike et al. It's nice to see Tim's friends remembering him this way. He's probably smiling right about now...............or rendering the double bird salute!

Were the Rt. 36 sign photos taken on 19 October?

Cheers to all.

Tim's brother.

Chris

Thanks to rogdeb for bringing the photo of TWN.

Chris, the Hwy 36 photos (of the 140 miles of twisties sign) and of the route from Red Bluff west to Highway 3 were taken on Friday, Oct. 17 (at least as to the main group). On Saturday, Oct. 18, in the later afternoon, our route took us back south on 3, and then west on 36 from its junction with 3 to Fortuna. So that's when most of the main group's photos of 36 were taken. BUT . . .

I believe that Mr. and Mrs. Hycle, as well as RogDeb rode all of 36 on Saturday, October 18, when they posted Tim's photo on the sign (which is just out of Red Bluff as you start west on 36). We caught up to them on 36 west for the last 30 or so miles into Fortuna. I don't believe any of us rode 36 on Sunday, Oct. 19, unless CelloII rode it in the wee hours of the morning before arriving at the motel in Fortuna at 5 am, or rode it on his way home.

Correct Rich :)

For those who have never seen footage of Hwy 36, here is a

to something TWN filmed. It's the last part of the journey....the part where I passed Rogdebs, Hycles and Nightshine and kept heading West at a comfortable pace........IIRC, this would be Deb's and Terri's favorite part of the ride. ;)
