Along with myself and Mike

I could have posted our lunch photo at the Marina Grill - but Mike beat me to it  - we (with Mike/Teri (Hycle) and Rob/Terri (FJRob) )were there a little later though - good food. AND it seems we rode hwy 16 south in their long settled dust :)

very cool idea for the sign
I thought so too.

Ran into Steve and Cyndi at a gas station farther down the road. We chatted a minute, then I pulled out. Minute later, Steve blasts by me. Minute after that, an all-white CHP car without a light bar blasts by me even faster. Sorry Steve, if only I'd had a radio. And that wave I gave you as I rode on past you and the officer was one of sympathy. . .
Steve? Time to share all the dirty details, ya know, for educational purposes....

After enduring 4 consecutive days of wedding festivities (which made me miss this ride) I DIDN'T NEED TO SEE THESE PICTURES! All of you suck!

So that explains how it was that I could catch up to Steve! I scooted solo down Hwy 1 from Leggett for about 10 miles and returned. I just couldn't be that close to those twisties and not ride them. Sunny, dry, gorgeous and wicked, wicked fun!!! Soon I was tooling along 101 and caught up to Steve & Cyndi, who I thought would be far down the road. Under normal conditions I would not be catching up to them. I suspected that they had stopped to eat,.... or had an unwelcome visitor interupt their great trip. So sorry.

The trip from Fortuna to the coast was in very wet foggy (read slippery road) conditions. Once we were at the water, the road dried up and later the sun came out a bit. National Geograghic is going to have to wait. No pics worth taking of this stunning coastline!

Thanks go to Bluestreak for setting this up. I was glad to get in on a little corner of it.

Nice job up there guyz and galz

Wish I could have joined you ....i'm a bit lagging it seems ...i'll be up there in a few days

What a wonderful corner of planet earth to ride moto-bikes. thanks for sharing the pics and fun.

I especially like this pic:

I love the simple layer of smoke ..undoubtedly a result of folks celebrating another prosperous harvest ~Humboldt County style~.

Not much to tell

I left the gas station and headed south on 101. About the same time a bear in a plain white wrapper left just behind me. When he got close enough he flipped on his radar. As soon as the valentine broke silence I immediately brought my speed down from 80 ish to 65. When he caught up to me he he put his lights on and I pulled over.

As we were chatting on the side of the road I saw Sacramento Mike go by. Even though he was wearing a helmet and doing about 64 and a half mph I could hear him laughing.

While the officer and I were chatting he was checking my bike out and then told me as soon as he turned on the radar my speed dropped and said I know you have a radar detector and asked where it was.

I didn't even think twice and told him it was under my helmet.

He checked my paper work and told me to hold the speed down and let me go.

NO written award performance. What a nice man.

Cyndi and I met MM2 and Exskibum in Marysville at 8:00 am and headed out to meet the rest of the group in Red Bluff for Breakfast. On the way we saw Mr Wizard on an overpass taking our picture.

A few miles down the road he cahght up with us and rode with us till about noon and then turned around and headed for home.

In Red Bluff we met up with Nightshine and Mhc and after a quick bite and a little socializing we headed east on 36.

Just after leaving town we made a quick stop at The Sign

A salute for the late TWN

As you can see MM2 still hasn't figured out which finger to use

Soon we were off for a day of fun riding 36 and 3

Spent the night in Yreka were we met up with FJROB's and FJRAY

After checking in and quick shower we met the gang accross the street at the Black Bear diner.

Not long after Highlander's joined us.

We spent the rest of the evening eating, :drinks: drinking :fans: , having a goodtime and of coarse talking about everyone that didn't come :lol2:

Next morning we meet Bob from Medford and a couple of his friends. Bob would ride to Fortuna with us. His friends would head back to Oregon at Somes Bar.

To busy having fun riding 96, 299, 3 and 36 to take pictures 330 miles all twisty

Actually, John, I think that's a layer of "fog" that is hovering over the river. I didn't smell any smoke while we were riding but we would have a change of perspective as the road would rise and fall. That particular phenomenon stayed over the water so I assume there was some type of temperature inversion as the sun was breaking through the higher level light fog.

But, one never knows. The locals might be enjoying a little of their "cash crop". B)

Terrie and I started our ride about two hours behind the group that met in Marysville, we had hoped to catch the gang at Denny’s in Red Bluff, but they were gone!

So we had lunch in Red Bluff and made it to 36 by 12:20

About halfway through 36 we turned right onto HWY 3

IMG_3132.jpg

We showed up at the Yreka Comfort Inn, to a surprised group of riders who did not know we were coming. We went to the Black Bear Diner for dinner.

Saturday morning we were off to Fortuna via Hwy’s 96, 299, 3, 36, and 101.

IMG_3166.jpg

We stopped on 96 and caught up with the early risers who just had to leave early.

These guys were all members of the Oregon contingent.

We stopped again at a gas station, Cindy likes the back of her FJR so much she stayed on it during our lengthy stop.

Our stop was so long that I was able to walk to the NAPA store, buy a headlamp bulb and install it in my bike, and take a leak!

Back to the twisty’s again, somebody had to do it!

Lunch at the J.C. Café

More Twisty's! RogDeb, Nightshine, Exskibum, and FJRay.

Terrie and I fell behind so I had to take the FJR up to warp speed.

IMG_3274.jpg

We made it to Fortuna, had dinner at the Eel River Brew Pub and watched Dave (Highlander) and Steve (Bluestreak) think up evil schemes to humiliate Mike (Madmike2) and Rich (Exskibum). Sorry no pic’s

Sunday Morning we rode to the Samoan Cookhouse for breakfast. Sacramento Mike paid us a visit.

IMG_3292.jpg

We rode home with Rogdeb’s and Hycle’s. it was a nice mellow ride home.

On the way we saw a School Bus like most of us FJR riders rode in when we were kids……The Short Bus!! :yahoo:

Pretty FJRs...all in a row.

Cindi is sitting on the Bluestreek-mobile and mhc (Mark) is backing in.

And for a short video clip of pretty little FJRs leaving Tim's Favorite Sign, click the photo above.

It does make me envious. This ride is a great two day ride with nothing but fun ridding and fun people no matter who rides.

Guess I will have to wait till next year

Real nice bunch of photo's there guys. Enough to make all who didn't make it truly envious. :)
Are you trying to encourage us?

It's working!!!

heh-heh-heh-heh-heh..... :D

Truly nice work, Sam. :clapping: And it was great riding with you again. :yahoo:

I hadn't planned on making this ride but decided to play hooky  from work Friday and at least ride as far as I could.

I'm really sorry I couldn't make the entire ride but I promised the grand kids not to miss their soccer games.

I had waited on the overpass in Oroville to catch a shot of the Bluestreeks, Exskibum and MadMike rollin down Hwy 70.

I thought... MM must be in stealth mode until I realized he was a couple of cars back, in the fast lane.

Steve sets a good pace, as I didn't catch up until we reached the Hwy 99 interchange and I wasn't draggin my feet either.

After the TWN memorial pic, :****: I followed the Bluestreeks and Exskibum up 36 until about noon when I had to turn around for home. Again, even two up Steve sets a good pace.......Wheeeeeeee.... :yahoo: what a fun road!

From the preceeding pics, I can tell everyone had a good time, :drinks: wish I could have been there, maybe next time.
