Great day to ride, and talk about technical curves! Met one other FJR at the observatory and he looked over all the gear I had on, and gave me a few tips on suspension adjustments. Unfortunately he doesn't have a computer, but testifies that the FJR is the best bike he's ever bought.
I took going up hill conservatively, and on the turn-around, a bit on the hot side going downhill. Although the rockets were taking 5min intervals screaming down the hill, I thought to myself if I could take the curves, not get caught up by the next rider, and keep up with the rider front of me, I 'd be extremely happy. So the suzuki left in front of me. I waited a short time and charged down the hill.
Using my throttle rocket and 2 finger brakes in 3rd gear was tricky, but it was the best combo keeping up with and keeping the suzuki tail lights in view. All but one of the turns got me on his tail, and I grinned looking at him in his mirrors. Hey it was my first time at palomar, and besides he had his knee pucks skidding, and my boots kept rubbing the asphalt reminding me how much I was leaning the bike. At the bottom of the hills, he gave me thumbs up, and pulled into the larger group of guys waiting to go up the hill.
Excellent place to brush up and practice curving, but the FJR is way too heavy and powerful for extreme curves in my opinion. It just good to know how much fun the sport capability my FJR has, but I'll stick to the touring for now!
