Um, did you forget anyone, Mike? Anyone? :(

Thanks for the report and pictures. Less than 4 months before I'll be riding some of those roads, I'm even beginning to look forward to 3 flights in 24 hours just to get to Joseph, OR before I pick up the bike :D

JB, you weren't forgotten.

You were mentioned in the title of Old Michael's picture, "Posers! Overlooking Donner Lake." :p :p

Besides...we felt abandoned and discussed it, though we didn't let it interfere with our lunch and we were able to blame you for any indigestion. ;)

And I asked for SOMEONE to go another ride today, but got ZERO takers. Hadda go alone.

Thanks so much JB. Get your rest.

And I seem to remember gfran and Emily were taking scads of pictures, but I've seen none of them posted.

Geez Old Fella, I'd a gone but. . . JAMES BURLEIGH put a rock in the road right in front of me! Yeh, THAT'S the ticket.

And Hey, Orestes, ya better not show up around here without setting up with some of us locals. We'll show you some places. But listen, man, stay on the RIGHT side of the road, 'k?

Thanks for the invitation Mike.

Nearer the time I'll be posting in the ride planning forum asking for all kinds of advice and anyone will be welcome to join me for a days riding. I'll be joining this tour organised by FlyRideUSA in Oregon and once I have the full itinerary I'll post it here. Some of the days are quite short so recommendations of local roads would be most welcome.

As for staying on the RIGHT side of the road, it's usually arriving back in the UK that's the problem.

Some of the days plan shorter mileage because they assume you'll be off your bike enjoying the scenery (like Yellowstone and Yosemite Parks, Grand Tetons, etc.) though Death Valley in SEP will be a bit toasty, there are other places to visit and see in the park besides Furnace Creek. For instance, Crater Lake is an amazing place and it takes some time if you plan to ride around the rim of the volcano.

But when you get into NorCal it would be fun and our pleasure to help plan side roads or meet you and ride along.

Talk about the long way home: Truckee to Santa Cruz....via Reno! And I want to publicly thank RENOJOHN for GIVING me the Strom skid plate..that wierdo won't accept any money for it !! Thanks RJ !! :clapping:

I'll pay you back somehow when your not looking !!
LOL, hey looks like a good day and some good fun. I see our friend ol' Ma Nature was being nice too.
No problem Dave, I hope you abuse it as much as I have and I hope you're able to get the mounting brackets OK. Let me know if I can help. Very sorry I missed you, but glad our coordination for you to get the plate worked out.

I look forward to us being able to sync' a day or two on the calendar with our schedules to log some damn fun miles and smiles together. My turn to play tour guide and I've got a couple of very nice ideas in mind.

Here's a HEADS UP for everybody. When Orestes posted, I checked his profile--he's over in England. Wow, man, you've posted some of the most AMAZING videos of rides I've seen anywhere. The camera work was outstanding, clear and smooth, and the roads. The ROADS! Just go there and click on this guy's videos, everybody. Man, he took some roads that are in Motorcycle Heaven. And that itinerary you linked to looks pretty amazing too. Sounds like some vacation. Hope we get a chance to meet you.

Red Bikes.

Need More Red Bikes!!

If you do anything like this towards my area (Fresnoish), count me in - the 07 feejer is ready and willing. Might have to throw in the ol' fly rod though.

Here's a few shots I took.

Wouda posted them sooner but the little woman commandeered the computer all day Sunday.

Thanks all for a great ride. Jan and I enjoyed it a lot. Unfortunately we got held up by a few cars on 89 after Sierraville and missed saying good bye at Truckee. We headed over to the big lake and did some tourist stuff before coming back and doing old highway 40. We rode the same roads, just about 4 hours later, and a few degrees cooler. Thanks again for the ride, and we are looking forward to the next one.

I'm sure I'm blushing now. Thanks for the comments, I'm still learning how to use the editing programs but I'm getting there. Hopefully I'll be able to add several from the western USA, I'm sure the Sierra Nevada and Rockies will match (or even surpass) the Alps.
