Ok boys and gals. I have received a present, ZUMO 550, and have been mapping the route. I have mapped 3 routes.a- full route

b- Full -15 min short cut

c- Full - 15 -30 short cut.

I have encountered one problem that mapquest verified to be legit. Right before Lunch there is no left turn on the bridge. We can only do a U-Turn or another route to avoid a U-Turn. Any one have a problems with U-Turns?

I can send this routes to anyone for asking. alexk_msf at yahoo doc com
I got these routes from cougar8000 yesterday. I had to install the latest update to MapSource from Garmin's website before I could display them. Once I did that the routes look great. Thanks Alex for taking the time to put the routes together and sharing them.

Sorry to hear about your wife having to be hospitalized Joe. I'm sure there were alot of guy's looking forward to riding with you in April, but you know what, there'll be plenty of other rides this summer.

Anticipating the upcoming ride, I sorted thru my old RoadRunner magazines for an article from the February '04 issue that covered Marietta and Southeast Ohio.

After verifying that the author toured several of the roads that we will visit during the "Ramble," I found the best passage from the article:

"...I can see that [my riding partner's] face has turned as white as the clouds ...'I guess I'm motion sick. All of those ups and downs at our speed are too much for me'..."

Note to self ... bring dramamine. ;)

I plan on taking in the entire route to do a pre-ramble scout trip on Sunday as well. Although, TStaff, if you want to meet up around the 556/536 area, I might be up for it. I live just off of 821 and could be there in short order. I already told the wife I would be gone all day. Only bummer is that I have to come back home and get some sleep since I'm on midnites right now :angry2:

Left today 5:00 was beautiful, 64 and sunny. Just pulled in 43 and raining. Thank God, I have some great raingear. I don't know if anybody can get away on saturday to do some "recon" on the "Ramble" roads. Unfortunately for me, my Sunday is booked or I'd drivedown and join you guy's.

Couple of weeks left !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ugh, don't remind me. northern kentucky has some great roads. however the difference i've noticed between the great roads here, vs. down in north carolina and tennessee is down there, they don't have all the little hills and "jumps" and curves hidden by the hills that ky does. i'm a good enough rider, but those little humps and hills and blind curves totally throw me off. not literally. well maybe.

ok slide me over closer to the confirmed side of the list. I've been peeking at the running 10 day forcast and see you scheduled a lot of rain to wash the roads prior to our arrival. But make sure you have the shut off valve under positive control please; I hate to arrive wet as a puppy doggy (in my new baby blue FroggToggs) and find that you rain dated it!

I rode rt 9 to the river then 7 to get to 536, and basicly ran it in reverse of what I did prior, doin pretty good till about 5 miles from the river, started getting into some gravel in the tight turns. The ride last week was less e ventful going toward the river, for what it's worth. I saw 3 bikes riding toward the river on 536, was that you Tom???

This brings up a good question. When (date and time) will the call be made as to if it is a "go" or pushed to the rain date? I have a hotel room for the regular date, but did not reserve on for the rain date. It just better not rain :yahoo:

I will move you over to the confirmed list.

I am arriving at the Super 8 on Friday night...I believe reservations need to be cancelled by noon 2 days before the reservation. Therefore, I will make a call before then...

I plan on trying 556 & 536 this Sunday, I'll keep you posted.
**** Tom,

**** and I were down that way today. should'a PM'd me. We could have hooked up! We ended up doing 250 instead of heading straight out 7. That was a bit of a mistake. 250 has not weathered well especially up on the ridge lines.

Looks like you all are going to have a freakin parade this year Wheat! I am tempted but I am not one for the big crowds

Well Kevin, sorry you aren't coming but signup was closed some time ago.

And we are not having any parades either if everybody works with us on this..we are sending out groups of five at a time spaced at intervals so the group riding should remain good.

Unless something changes, I have myself, yamaholic, and maybe two others for ride leaders. I repeat...if you are a local or have ridden these roads before AND would like to volunteer...it would be great. Otherwise, you get what you get...just sayin'.

Well, I at least got out to scout 676 today. Let me just say that there are a few spots that are still quite hairy. Some of the downhills, but for us it would be uphill, still had a good bit of sand/dirt on it. I rode it from Marietta to the 555 intersection, but then turned towards Bartlett and hit 550. Overall it was in decent shape. Typical SE Ohio roads after winter. Some potholes/plow damage, but nothing really major sticks out except for all of the residual sand. I think that is more than likely due to the recent rains washing it from the sides of the roads out into the middle of them. So basically y'all need to keep your eyes open for that kind of thing. And be sure for those who haven't ridden 676 before to pay attention out there! If we get some more rain here in the next week or so, that will make a big difference in the condition of the sand, so here's to hoping.

7 of us got out to enjoy some SE Ohio roads on Sunday, we had 6 FJR's & 1 FZ1 in the group.

Rt. 9 south of I-70, rt. 145, & 556 are in great shape.

We ran 536 from N to S, & the road is in good shape, normal gravel in some corners, but like Tim said about 5 miles from the river you will find landslide type dirt/gravel covering the road which can provide an extreme pucker moment :eek:mg:

800 is really in need of repaving south of rt. 26.

It was a great day, 345 miles & temps in the 60's.

I can highly recommend Marv's Place in Sardis for a lunch stop.

Sorry we missed you this time Kevin, I'll be sure & let you know next time we are headed your way.

...Maybe a route rework is in order for 800 and 676 then?
