Hey guys,

You couldn't of asked for a better day of riding yesterday.

360 on the ticker, bit dusty on 536, 255 though was smooth and clean, bealsville diner still serving,

Gray Ray didn't kill either of us with any of his "schanagins"

Bike needs a bath desperately.

See everybody in May

Only possible downside is it's the first race weekend at Nelson's Ledges so will let " Mother Nature" make the call for both of us.

Is it May yet?

PS. Happy St. Patricks Day everybody!!!!!!

Get your ressies made, just in case you can show. There is a 24hr cancellation policy on the reserved room block... speaking of the room block.... there are only 29 days left on the website ticker!

I tried calling to book but the Manager Zach is not in today. I was told he was the only one who knew how to over ride the room bookings. Currently they don't have 2 queen bed rooms available to book.

$99/nite for a Double Queen, Non-Smoking.
Call 877.361.2512 and book under the FJR SEO Group with a Confirmation#35441974

I just received a call back and was informed when you are booking they need to look at the April 30 date to see the info. I was booking for Friday & Saturday and the girl I spoke to could not find anything until she did more digging.

Tim- Try 'em tomorrow then I guess. Just make sure you don't forget. As said in this thread earlier, rooms will go fast with the frackers needing rooms.

Are you planning on riding down with Mike??

------------------------------

I was bored this AM I guess, so there I went back into my PSP (paint shop pro) to make-up some more graphics. I kinda thought since this years Ramble is next to a.... Strip Club, I'd some how incorporate that into our sites header image..... It's subtle, like it should be :)

And, I'm sure none of us guys are even going to step foot into a place like that. Maybe Beemer Don if he was around and well. And as he would end it... 'NS!

First recon report on SEO.

The roads have taken a terrible beating over the winter, pot holes and cinders everywhere. I'm not talking about gravel that you can see, i'm talking about the small fine stuff that you can barely see. It's everywhere!!! Roads that were smooth and fast are now loaded with pot holes, and sand. Rt. 9 South of U.S. 22 is impossible.

What with the gas industry going nuts, there is pipeline construction on every road that we traveled. Rt. 255 from the river to Rt. 800 was about the best, but the small sandlike cinders make braking and accelerating very challenging, to say the least. (I guess we could have slowed down some, but every time I did my brother would disappear in front of me). Rt.'s 556,536,145,148,are all sand covered and loaded with pipeline debris, flag men and extra wide loads, every couple of miles. There is still a lot of flooding in the river valley along Rt. 212. (We are zipping along 212 at about 70 and we come around this blind corner and our lane and half of the on-coming lane are flooded, with a semi coming straight at us. I told myself, I think I can make it but I'm not sure about my brother. I drop down one, give it the gas and just barely make it. I get to dry pavement look in my mirror and there he is, soaked from the waist down, but still vertical. Man can that guy ride.)

Beal's Diner is still open and doing a land office business (what with all the pipeline construction workers). And Joe, I talked to Ellen (the owner) and she's keeping an eye open for you.Something about the tip last year.

All-in-all it was a good day +70 degrees, sun shine, great company, bikes ran well, no crashes, (Although a lot of close calls). Let's all pray for a lot of rain between now and the SEO

Thank you so much for the update. Pretty much like that around here, this winter was brutal. I'm waiting for all the salt and sand to get washed off. It may be a week or two. Sounds about the same down there.

Calling all Gully-Washers!!!!

Dave and Ray....I hate to say it but you guys might want to give up on the eastern side of SEO for a while.Between the fracking and fracking related work it's no surprise that those roads are suffering.Besides, some of those road surfaces are getting old...536 was last paved in 2007,but on the good side,536 and 556 are going to be re-paved in 2017.

In the mean time all the cool kids are playing south and west...Morgan,Galia,Washington and Lawerence counties. In the last few years all of these roads have been paved...669,377,792,790,676,Hannon Trace,690 and 217...and the Crown Jewel of Morgan County,78 between McConellsville and Glouster, will be paved in 2016.

A lot of these roads can be worked into the 2015 route that goes down towards Ironton and Galopolis.

I was just on 377,669,550,792 and 676 yesterday...all were in good shape and pretty clean for this time of year.

Denny- if u have some must do routes that are different from what I already have, shoot me a link to them or PM me the roads and I'll make the .gpx route up.

Thanks a ton if u can help! :)

KJ

Some of the great roads that Denny has mentioned, are definitely doable from Mineral Wells, by taking 77 south to the Ravenswood/33/2 exit. And you can also include a stop at the World Famous "Hillbilly Hotdogs"...

I wanna try the "Homewrecker" !!

KJ, if you read his post, he gave you the roads and places.... I don't think Denny uses his Gps, just a map maybe...
Using Maps would make total sense of his verbiage used. Us GPS guys can't remember that many roads. It's like today's cell phone usage, who remembers phone numbers anymore?. In the olden days you had to. 'NS

Just was wondering if he had them more in correlation to our new central temporary diggs. I would imagine half of those are a "no bother" as to the distance to travel, especially with all the great WV roads now at our doorstep.

My first ramble I had no GPS I had a piece of paper with route numbers at the turns and they made me lead Not even a map! I missed two turns all day. sometimes I think we depend too much on the electronics.

That's so true Bob...I've ridden in groups more than once before, where the leader had a GPS...and we still got lost. I like turn sheets.

Maps and turn by turn route sheets to get you through the adventure... And GPS to have a constant point of "this is where I am". And to get out of trouble if need be. That's the way I roll. :D

I hear ya. I was actually taught how to read a map by my father when I was a lil weeper back in the late 70's. Not only could read them, but actually navigate with it with what roads to use from point A to B. As we know, there's basics to get down.

Thinking... back maybe about 25 years ago, my boat came with a (black & white) GPS and Chart Plotter. I figured... hey!, how perfect would this be for my snowmobiling!. You don't have great direction on a cold snow-falling night where you wanna just get home (or to a bar lol).

So I purchased a (again B&W LCD model) GPS, mounted it to the sled's dash and I've never looked back since. Sure that technology and display is crude in today's world, but it was like heaven to us in the middle of the Adirondacks finding our way. I just remember my friends face when we would stop somewhere and I would show peeps where we were on my display. I truly was King of navigation, but it caught on, I can't really say like wildfire but now a days, not many travel without one. Paper maps are still root, and prove best in some circumstances. I've pretty much grown past them however.
