Shiny,

The KLR is looking bad ass!! B)

Here's a little trick if your care or not..... Use a little brake cleaner to get that yellow "tractor manual" writing off your storage tube.
Thanks Chris! I haven't really cared about it until bigger projects got done. I'm told acetone will work too. The tube is pretty well on there, so I need to be careful or I'll drip whatever I use on the seat or paint.

Sounds like a good little project to do when I put the radiator guard on this weekend. I need to get the gay yellow EMCO label off the top of the trunk too.Details matter.

Well, the KLR started life as a 1990 Tengai model like one of these (this one's not mine & it wasn't this clean):

Plus, the son wanted to learn to ride. Figuring that he'd toss it sooner or later and the original tank & side panels had at least a little value, we got a crushed tank & side panels, pulled the dent, painted to the original colors with rattle cans, and we had it like this for most of a year:

Unfortunately, somebody told him it looked like a clown bike with the green and blue. The son liked the black KTM Adventure, so it now is a campus bomber at 1/10th the price of the KTM and looks like this:

The bodywork doesn't show well, but is bent scrap plastic, mostly from the front bumper cover of a Toyota Highlander. The crash bars are homebrew. Still a great great errand runner and it towers over most campus bikes. B)
