The worst 18-1 team in the history of the NFL.
Pats had been dodging that bullet all year. What better finish than to finally lose a game on the worldwide stage?

That second down sack on their last drive was the exclamation point on a fitting demise to that "Dynasty".

All of the above IMO.

Yeah, I was still sore about that ******** "Tuck" ruling in the 2001 AFC game.

There is justice! Thank You Giants!

From another forum:

Lost in the three super bowls in four years, is the fact that they narrowly escaped all three and shouldn't even have been in the first one (tuck rule year).
I feel like they are an excellent team with a great coach that knows how to win close games. They are not the juggernaut of the 80's Niners, and not even in the same ballpark with the 70's Steelers.
Couldn't have said it better myself!
I don't buy that at all, the Patriots have to be considered the team of the decade. You can't win 18 games straight and three superbowls without being a great team. Yeah they have had some close games, but the hallmark of great teams is that they win the inevitable close games. In fact to me that is what makes this game incredible, the Pats actually lost a 3 point game. Not being a Pats fan, when is the last time that happened?

Well, it happened. Arguably the biggest upset in history. Eli was not the MVP, that's nonsense. This week the game was won (and lost) by defense. The Giants D came up big. They made the front line of the Pats look bad, very bad. The Pats D looked old and tired. They put almost no pressure on Eli and when they did they allowed him to escape to make long down-field plays.

It didn't help that the Patriots had assembled their worst offensive game plan of the year. Everyone knew Maroney was coming in with two running big games behind him. The outright run was NOT going to work alone. They should have used play action more often and they would have been able to make some quick slants to the tight ends and Welker up the middle. Instead they opted to try the run alternating with long passes to the outside, which were never allowed to develop thanks to the NY defense.

I really don't think the Giants won the game so much as the Patriots lost it. Oh, well... it was a close game and the refs did not effect the game that I could see. Oh, and the ads really sucked this year.

The Giants defense never let the Patriots control the game and won it by not letting the Pats get comfortable and by holding the Pats to their lowest scoring total this season.

I was glad to see the refs didn't effect the game and I couldn't agree with you more about the ads! ;)

That was one helluva game!

Gotta agree with Fred, the Pats' game plan was less than stellar. While it worked for them so many times before in the season, too many teams came pretty close. Giving the Giants basically the same thing -- drag receivers (mostly Welker) across the middle, run Maroney, or drop a swing pass to Faulk until the D creeps up, then burn 'em with a bomb -- was not the best way to get it done. Guess they didn't think the Giants' front four could wreak that much havoc, either. Oops.

I don't care what the analysts say, Matt Light is a weak link on Brady's blind side, and he got exposed all night long. It's not like the rest of the O'line did much better.

The Pats also built up some bad juju for themselves. Found this little quote over on ESPN: "'They were inviting us to their parties after the game," said Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer. "They showed us no respect.'" Are you serious?! Planning the party BEFORE the game? And inviting the other team to it?! If that's not a game plan for a loss, I don't know what is.

Did you catch the Pat's CEO on TV (I think it was CNN) telling the interviewers that they promised Fox they would keep it close in the first half, but after that, all bets were off?

Lots of humble pie available after that game, but I doubt many of them are lining up at that dessert table.

Those 2 ads about the little stock purchasing baby was totally kewl.

Yeah, that scored about a 3 out of 5 on the superbowl ad-o-meter. The rest of the tripe was 1 at best. . And I read somewhere that the price of the ads was at an all time high. Shameful.

Ironically, any product that you saw advertised during the game will now have to be accordingly overpriced to pay for that advertising. So, whatever it was, if you saw it on Sunday, I'd look to their competitors for a better deal. How's that for reverse advertising?

Don't fool yourself... They all have victory parties planned. It's all part of the head game.

One of the biggest upsets ever? I don't see it that way at all. Giants almost beat the Patriots in regular season, a couple of other close games for the Patriots as well. Do the Patriots have a great team? Absolutely. Do the Giants have a great team, of course; I think the Giants were peaking and the Patriots were waning. The game could have gone either way on a different day.

Now for the greatest Superbowl upset; my pick would be the Baltimore Colts against the New York Jets; no one gave the Jets a snowball's chance....................... JMO

Horrible coaching!!!!!!!!!

Fouth and 13 in field goal range and you go for it???????

I've seen sacks of manure block better!

Whenever the Patriot offence isn't in rythym they go into a no huddle to get on rythym, didn't happen.

The defence played a damn good game, only the blitz schemes were always coming from the wrong side. <_<

The Giants wanted it more, pain and simple. They had better coaching, were more physical and earned the win. They played like champions and that's why they are the champions.

Congradulations to the 2007 world champion NY Giants! :clapping:

:clapping: :clapping: :clapping: Woo Hoo :clapping: :clapping: Being a long time Dolphin fan, it couldn't have been any sweeter then for them to lose the last game of the "perfect run" This is pay back for the time the convict on work release went on to the field to clear the snow for a game winning field goal against the Fish. Just goes to show "Cheaters never win" :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Sour grapes.

Who cheated?

Agreed, they do plan the parties ahead of time. But it's mighty presumptuous to invite the other team to your 19--0 celebration ahead of time, especially one you only beat by 3 points. Maybe send the invite to their front office, but NOT to the players themselves.

I dunno 'bout that. It's the SB. Let it all hang out. It showed guts and trust in his team's ability to execute. Besides, it could have been a back-breaker if he had pulled it off.

He's a hero if it works and an ass if it doesn't. In the larger scheme of things, Bellichek has proven he has what it takes to make it to the big show, even if one call is overly risky.

Best part is Moss still doesn't have a Superbowl ring, and if karma is for real, he never will.

I think that WE are the winners because the FOX football robot got his clock cleaned byt he terminator and we won't have to see that stupid robot again till next season.

Loved that the game wasn't the usual total blow-out!

I can see that broom as if it were yesterday.

And to think that Miami had Welker in the palm of their hands. Fortunally that crowd is gone and it's "Tuna Time".
