Not sure where we're going to cross coming back, likely into AZ as 3 Flags ends in Rocky Point/Puerto Penasco. Gonna be a long haul back up to BC, but it'll be worth it. Not likely not bringing more than a liter each, but who knows?
You probably already know this, but for "making time" north, note that it may be both faster (75mph speed limits vis 55mph) and much less expensive to reel off some of that northward distance through Idaho rather than through Oregon.
Idaho *******s! (sorry, meant to say that under my breath)

Canuckle: You can do I-5 through Oregon and make time, ya know. Idaho's finest caught me...
Idaho - the home of Trooper Bob and "Mister Daayhkes - in Idaho 55 means Fifty - Fahve!!" (After the knob pulled us over on our way to the first Moscow WFO for passing him at 60!)

I now go out of my way to avoid Idaho whenever possible as I won't ride interstate highways unless there is literally no other choice, and most other Idaho routes are under-posted and over-policed. Rant over - and I didn't even get a ticket - either time...

Plenty of time to figure out routes... and thanks for the good gen folks. We're up against a time/speed/distance problem in that 3 Flags finishes on the 8th and we've got to balance the distance (around 1800 miles) with the available time (not much) and the desire to avoid the slab to the extent possible... but it may not be that possible.

Two routes that show up on the map program are either: north to I-10, west to I-5 and then hump it north to Olympia etc; or northwest to Lost Wages then US93 North all the way into Idaho and NW on the slab from there.

Decisions, decisions....

FJRAY and some others have more frequent experience since they live closer, but 93 has been patrolled pretty closely in my experience. Got stopped on that one too. Got a warning that time though. Cop told me a 70mph crash would have been certain death (despite armored gloves, jacket, boots, and full helmet, et al). Said he rode a Harley.

But 93 is better than most if you want to avoid I-5.

Poor excuse....
He's Irish Old Michael. You were expecting something other than a poor excuse, because..... :dntknw:
OM - you going to help me out here ?!
Mary Ellen, should he continue to denigrate the Irish, it's MM who'll be needing the help.

:D
You're absolutely correct, Michael. I should know better since I have a wee bit o' Irish in me bloodline (that continues to be overwhelmed by the Hun/Cherokee genes). I've corrected the quote above to satisfy your answer. :D

Last year 3 Flags was on 93 all the way from Ely to Montana ... Labour Day weekend, and never saw hide nor hair of a Trooper the whole way... maybe we got lucky?

Other option is north on 395 I guess, if we want to go all the west way across Nevada first...

One way or another, we'll be there... but likely not gonna make Thursday.

Beware CHP in Calif. on 395 between Tioga Pass and Walker, and also around Susanville; they seldom give warnings. I believe we have several members who can attest to tithing the Calif treasury in those areas. I'd swear those areas are rotten with donut shops, though I've never noticed one on the highway.

395 isn't generally too bad in Nevada, but I wouldn't push it too much around Carson City or Reno.

And you're not going to Barb's gig because .... ?
Mary Ellen, I'm sure you've heard the saying: "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie." Or perhaps, "Never attempt to teach a pig how to sing, it is a total waste of your time and it annoys the living hell out of the pig!" Putting three Irishmen at one event, may indeed be asking for "The Perfect Storm!" Even though, Old Michael, ShinyPartsUp and El Burrito Ballerina were all together at WFO-08 in Moscow, Idaho with no dire effects. But Shiny had to ride off early and OM was very ill! We were well behaved!

Now we Fenian Micks have discovered madmike2 has Irish blood (OM, SPU & Chuy have suspected this for a long time!), barb may have a debacle on her hands!!

Well.... guess what? I'm kind of Irish, too. Burke is maiden name ;)

I'm planning to join Barb's gig, btw. So, where does THIS turn of events leave us? :p

Duh, with more Babes in attendance. :D

Irish? I beg to differ. Not a single one of you is Irish. Some of you may claim Irish decent, but that's been tempered by constant and continuous exposure to North American culture. (speaking continentally)

Bah! After a few shots of tequila you won't be American, Canadian or Irish, you'll just be better looking and more friendly. :yahoo:

God help you all if I become more friendly. I've already told you .... tequila makes me want to dance naked and write bad cheques :p
