Walked by it and smiled as I headed to Ken the HD Guy's '03 Night Train. Rode that one around for a while and then to work. Other than handling with the smoothness of a refrigerator below 35 mph and the goofy lack of wind protection it's a pretty good ride. He's got a HD branded deep bucket seat on it- ultra comfortable! I remember now why I left cruisers and gained some insight about some of Ken's riding habits that irked me. And I touched down on the right side only once!

Had the required 16K swingarm pivot service done. Installed harness for heated gloves. Had someone more patient than I install pathblazer.

I just got back from two weeks of travel. I'm kind of weird, if I'm not home to ride, I don't miss riding. Then I get back, the flame gets re-lit and I don't want to do anything else.

Put it on the lift today to start the defarkling process to get it sold. Kind of hate to see it go but it's only been used about 5 times in the last couple years. Should be some stuff for sale here soon.

So, an advertisement for this establishment caught my eye in the paper and I decided to check it out today.

Bought some of this tasty brew

Had a nice talk with the owner Kat (her dog Whiskey in front of their still)

and by the way, Sugartit is (or was) a real town just south of Greer, SC

Disassembled all of the clutch plates, cleaned, and reassembled. I had a good lesson today on the retainer wire. 🙄

I got the call from GP suspension to send in the shock. I'll remove the Penske and start the winter maintenance. A priority is to remove the relay arm and pack all the bearings. I have accumulated new spark plugs and other things that need done, and damnit I have to do the valve clearance check again. I figure I have a solid one or two days of work ahead, and I figure I can probably do it in a week.

If I don't have the shock back by the time I get through with that, I have my old OEM that can be installed in case a ride opportunity comes up. I'm actually curious to take one last ride on the OEM suspension then contrast that with a fresh Penke 8983 rebuild and new fork springs.

Swapped out a shagged rear tire for a [new] used low mile take off. Balanced with 10g, took it out for a spin and all is well in FJRland again.

Rode it like I stole it from Georgia through NC and TN. Dragon was clean, dry, and wide open. Killboy and 129 were out. Left at 1030am, got back at five. Only two stops during that time, both under 5 minutes for fuel, bilge, and red bull. I guess I got the ergos on the bike worked out.

Finally got around to installing the V-strom handguards.

Lubed up the lever pivots while it was apart.

Washed the accumulated Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and West Virginia **** off.

Rode with Duane/1911 and griff. 375 sweet miles today, most in northern GA. Met in the German paradise of Walhalla, SC...and headed north and west from there...to roads I had heard of but never been on.

I was leading and nobody got a ticket and nobody ditch surfed. Fantastic day...started out nipply at 30 degrees but quickly warmed up to the upper 50s in elevations from 1500 ft to 3200 ft.

Great isolated roads with terrific fresh pavement in many places. Thanks Duane for all the road suggestions. And thanks retired guy griff for choosing to ride in the cold this am.

Had a blast!

I looked at my bike today, and thought about washing it for a minute. I also looked at the LR4s, Skene controller, and Wynpro light brackets, that I just got...need to get that stuff mounted, and hooked up.

I still haven't started dismantling the bike to send in the shock. Weather looks pretty good through mid-week, and I'm not ready for winter yet.

Rode it, 70+ degrees here today, not a cloud in the sky. Put on near 200 mikes and filled her with Ethanol free gas for the winter.

Walked out to the garage to check tire pressure, and found out that the 90 degree valve on the rear tire is leaking...drove the car to work. DAMNIT!!!
