If you want to ride through southern NH some time I can help with the relay arm. I have a wheel chock and pipe stand to lift the bike and a sawzall to cut the right side centerstand bolt that needs to be replaced in the reverse direction. I'll be away until middle of July but any time between then and NERDS should be doable.
FWIW - I wouldn't bother with the swingarm pivot. Unlike the relay arm pivots, it is well protected from the weather and doesn't need regular attention, IMO.
I might take you up on that, Fred. I know what has to be done but I don't have a decent way of supporting the bike.

I'll have to see what my last half of July looks like. Anything I would require other than one new centerstand bolt (or do I need two)? I assume the required bolt dimensions are to be found somewhere on the forum. It has been claimed that the exhaust pipes can be levered out of the way sufficiently to remove the offending bolts but I think most have elected to cut them off...

I agree with you on the centerstand but I feel guilty for never having even looked at it's interior after ten years and

I added some carbon vinal decals to the tank on the 2015 to eliminate scratching with the magnetic tank bag. Don't care if the vinal gets scratched. I can always peal it off and put a new one on.
Dave
Well it'll never get scratched if you don't ride the damn thing.

No, just the one bolt. On a 1st Gen you can just barely get it out without cutting by releasing the muffler support, but don't think that is possible on a 2nd or 3rd Gen. The Yamaha part number for the bolt is 90101-10004-00. Don't recall the size, but suspect it is a 10mm from the part number. I just took one of the other ones to the hardware store and matched it up.

Thanks, Mike you had to remind me.

I took the backrest off of the N47 topcase and had the wife try it without it on. She said it was much better. So I guess I won't be needing that anymore. She still wants some lower suport so that will have to happen later on also.

Took a ride (Sunday actually), about 2 hrs jetting up the hwy for a killer burger at Red Robin in Roanoke, VA. This is easily becoming my fave of late. Then meandered south into the Virginnie mtns with a stint on the BRP. It was 71 degrees up yonder, normal, but the humidity was extremely low so there was relatively very little haze. "I can see for miles and miles and miles and..."

Do you recall the length of the center stand bolts?? (Shoulder type, right?)

You do not have to replace the center stand pivot bolts. Those are the shoulder bolts, and they come out fine.

The bolt you need to cut out is one of the two bolts that hold the right side center-stand bracket to the bike frame. The bracket is what is in the way of removing the relay arm pivot bolt.

The way that I do the job is to remove the right side bracket and remove the left side pivot bolt. The bracket bolt that gets cut is just a common 14mm hex head bolt and lock nut. I forget what length bolt I bought to replace it, but it was slightly shorter than the stock bolt so it wouldn't hit the pipe when put in from the inside.

The hex is 14mm, the threads are 10mm (I think). But I would just take one of the uncut bolts to the hardware store a couple of miles from here and match it! On second thought I doubt it is 10mm that would be way bigger than it needs to be. I bet it is either 6mm or 8mm.

My rear tire was losing air so I checked for leaks and found it was around the base of the valve stem. I have a terrible time getting the air nozzle on it to air it up, so I have to bend the stem a bit to fill it. That movement may have caused the leak.

I had the shop replace it with a right angle valve stem. I was a bit surprised he put in a metal one and pointed it toward the brake rotor. I can get to it fine now, so I'm happy enough.

*TRIED* to ride it to a lunch meeting, but the battery was dead. I keep it connected to a NOCO "Genius" - previous owner had a dash-mount port installed, so I figured I might as well use it. Three times now this has happened and, of course, I'd already unplugged the charger from the bike so I have no idea what the LEDs were saying. This is supposed to be a maintenance charger, like a Battery Tender (which I have several of and used without issue for many years..) but it appears occasionally it isn't so "Genius"!! I've contacted their support - 5 year warranty, they say.

The Shorai battery in my '07 FZ1 started that bike immediately, even though I haven't ridden it (or had it on a charger) since the fall...

Aunt Kelly's trickle charger killed the SV 650 battery during her 5-month winter break from riding.

(She rides pillion on the FJR during the cold, since I catch all the wind.)

Took some measurements and started cutting metal to make my wifes lower backrest. It never ever ends for me. Starting a plan to make TOG'S for the bike also. It's on the whiteboard.

Yeah, I had a "trickle" charger do the same thing. Never had a Battery Tender™ do that.

Not to go OT er nuthin...

Installed led headlights and louder horn. Before doing it I looked up how to replace the bulbs. Ignored the removing of stuff and just reached up from front tire like I do on my other bikes. The bolt holding the bracket for the horn was incredibly tight and skinned my hand on radiator when it finally broke loose.

ref post (Fred's) #6628: I believe those are 10mm (standard hex size for 10mm body is 14mm) bolts holding the centerstand bracket on. Possibly 8mm, definitely not 6mm. I think I bought 35mm long ones. Maybe 40mm and cut them to fit. They don't need to be high strength bolts.

Not high strength but I would want stainless.
