What did you do to your FJR today?

Those spark plugs look mucho fantastic. I recently changed mine after more than 15K and they looked just like yours - no deposits and an excellent ash brown color. I was thrilled to know that in that time, they were within 0.005" of their original gap (no apprciable wear).
The more I read about the FJR - the more I like it. They are just great bikes. Like Fred, I hope to ride my '05 well into the future. But if fate (for whatever reason) grabs me this weekend, rest assured, I will buy another FJR.
Yes, the plugs had some life left in them. I think I'll extend my service interval to 15K on the plug change. After changing plugs and TBS, no noticeable difference in running. Still smooth and powerful. All is good in my JFR hood.

What did I do to my FJR?

I drove it over 6 thousand miles across America, with the last 2400 occurring during my 50cc Iron butt ride... coast to coast from San Diego to Jacksonville in 48 1/2 hours. Through the heat of the Arizona desert at near 120 degrees @ 90 miles per hour, and the rain of San Antonio, and the suspension pounding ridiculous excuse for pavement in much of Louisiana's I-10. I was amazed at how much tread I lost from my Michelin Pilot Exalto CT on this journey. It's now at about 30 k and very close to the wear bars.

So what did I do? I beat the snot out of my FJR. It's covered with 6k miles of dirt and bugs, my fresh oil change before the trip is now overdue for another change, and I'm personally, absolutely worn out.

My 36k mile 05 FJR? It runs just as perfectly today as it did the day I bought it.

Congratulations Gary on quite the accomplishment, and welcome back the "Rain State"!

I took the windscreen off and soaked most of the bugs off. I even thought about washing the whole FJR but it started raining so I left it in the garage so it wouldn't get wet.

Well, got the Doran installed. Tapped into the glove box limit switch, and all works. Will wait for tire change to install sensors inside.

I did some 'part swapping' over the weekend, to make my 'midnight black' a little less black.

Got me a few silver panels from a Gen2, and experimented with my Gen3.

The extra panels I have.

I am thinking of getting a silver luggage rack to combine with the second option.

I got the part relatively cheap so I don't need to paint I can still put back the originals..

"Ferris Bueller, you're my hero!"

Congratulations again on a safe and successful ride.

Did 8k oil, plugs and air filtr service, also removed my PC-V to see if i really need it on a 2012, cleaned he air filter

Installed my Corbin seat I purchased fom another member

The plugs didn't go to plan, I couldn't get he plug cap off number 3 so had to leave it, will get it replaced by he dealer when I take it in next. The 3 i took out all looked fine, so hoping no issues with leaving It in a little longer

80k mile maintenance this morning (about 1200 miles late. Oh my!) Just an oil change really, but checked all the other stuff.

Washed the bike beforehand (yes I do that. I have no shame.) But as is often the case with a cleaned bike, it looked so damn good and had fresh oil in it, so I rode it around Cow Hampshire for 4-5 hours (a tank and a half of gas) and got some fresh bug splats on it.

Oh well. Still a good (but hot) day.

I'm sure that your odd plug will be OK! But why couldn't you get it off? Did you try grabbing the boot and twisting it before pulling up?

I twisted and pulled , i tried to gently lever it up with a flat screwdriver whilst pulling p too, but didn't want to damage anything s decided better to leave it than break it. it just did not want to come up, I did the other 3 without much difficulty, I did consider using some pliers to grip it with too but didn't actual try it.

Hmmm, with a 2012 I'd probably be a bit miffed too. There isn't much there to stick, just the rubber in the hole, and the contact on the threads of the plug. Probably best to let the shop figure it out.

Horse hockey! If you really think "the shop" isn't going to break something, I want some of what you're smokin'! Here's what I see happening: "the shop" guy can't get the boot loose either. So he grabs a screwdriver to pry it up with. But in his zeal he stabs a hole in it. "All the better", he thinks and twists it loose like a stuck oil filter. He pulls the plug out says, "yep, that's a spark plug", and puts it back in. He then re-installs the damaged boot without ever saying a word and we spend the next two weeks diagnosing a poorly running engine and the next 2 weeks wailing and lamenting the misery of it all.

I think gbj ought to go back out there and damage the damn thing himself. At least we'll have a decent idea of why his engine won't idle.

Don't forget to curse at it while pulling and twisting. Start off with PG rated words in a nice soft tone. Progressively get meaner and nastier until you have it moving your way.
