What did you do to your FJR today?

NOT GOOD, Intermittent downshifting issues on the way to work this AM. Mostly 2'nd and 1'st gear. Tap it down nothing there, Tap it down several more times and eventually it went in. It feels like nothings there. No click, nothing. Bike running fine otherwise. Upshift no problems at all. I will search the forum later.

If it is intermittent, I'm willing to wager that a dismantle/clean/lube (of the shifter) will fix it. There is enough goo in there to keep the spring from allowing it to ratchet back for the next gear. When tightening the main pivot, make sure you don't get it too tight. Good luck!

I will dig into it tonight. It's due for an oil change anyway. I did service it this spring but I do ride in a lot of rain.

Rode mine in the rain. Put it away wet.

Hope the Gen 3 puts up with this dreadful treatment as well as my Gen 2s did.

Sell the wave runner, ride your fjr more.
Or, sell the wave runner and buy a full size boat with a Yamaha outboard.

Honestly, they are no fun either. The oil changes on the Yamaha outboards I have done have been very messy and reflect either lack of planning or just meanness on the part of the engineers.

 
RFH, you have no idea how much I've been kicking myself for passing up a great deal on a Yamaha boat that had the twin supercharged jet motors. It was bad *** and they were selling it cheap because it hadn't sold. Oh well...

Mcatrophy, I was going to use a screwdriver, but didn't want oil all over my hull, which I ended up with anyway. I also didn't want to destroy that filter, in case the Mobile 1 was shaped wrong and wouldn't fit. Haha...Next time will be easier. Lessons learned.

Put on an old BT-023GT takeoff, since my plugged SEOR PR2 isn't holding air anymore.

Looking to scrub the crap out of that GT till it can't take anymore.

When I was very poor I'd never even consider paying money for a filter wrench when I already had a screwdriver and a hammer. Wouldn't now, I like hitting things with hammers

OMG dude I wasn't going to reuse the old filter. I was only going to put it back on until I could get a proper filter from Yamaha. I wouldn't want to leave that orifice open to collect dirt. The way the wind can blow around here, a bucket of dirt could end up in a motor left open for a couple days.

I know what you mean. Between a job that had me travelling a LOT, buying a house and moving, I have had damn near zero time to ride.

But, I recently started a new job that will involve significantly less travel and I actually rode into the office today! WOO-HOO!!

 
Just got done changing front and rear brake pads and flushing all brake and clutch fluid. No regrets, but the old pads were still in great shape so I kept them. I've never changed the rear and forgot that I did the fronts just 16K miles ago, so those were like new. While entering the maintenance log I saw that I had just forgotten about the front brake pad change before leaving CA.

Didn't get to give it the good look-over I usually do before a trip. It needs plugs and a TBS, but my meeting ran over this morning so I never got a chance. We hit the road at 12:30 and only stopped once to use the restroom. Oh well, I'm sure it'll be fine for the next two weeks. At least it has new tires.

 
It will run fine but just won't be able to stay up with me.

Just to rub it in some more I did plugs and a TBS on Sunday. So tonight I changed the oil in the rear pumpkin. Then I removed the sideplate and proceeded to dis-assemble and clean all the shift linkage and re-lube. Thursday night the Tires and Brakes will be addressed. I hope to have everything all buttoned up by the end of the day Saturday.

Rode all around Wolf Pen Gap (Georgia) with the wife. First full on twisty riding two-up since installing MCL peg lowering brackets. It fixed that annoying roundness at the bottom of my peg feelers. Now they're nicely beveled.
