What did you do to your FJR today?

Rode it to work today,
then played hooky for 1-1/2 hours to meet philjet09. He snapped a Tour of Honor photo of our Statue of Liberty across the street from the Capitol (and parked in the Secretary of State's reserved space to do so). We shook hands, failed to sync our Senas, and did 20 miles of I-20 towards Alabama -- the ugliest section of freeway in the entire southeastern USA.

Enjoyed it sir, and thanks. Playing hooky is always a fun idea!

It was great meeting you today, even if it was hurried.

Rode it down through Crawford Notch, NH, passing every car on the way to do a short (8.2 mi.) hike and then back home passing every car!

Changed the engine oil and put on a new filter. Changed the final drive oil as well. The guy at the local big box auto store said he had never heard of "crush washers" when I asked him where they might be. The guy was kinda a smart -#%% about it. I described it and he corrected me emphatically calling it a "drain plug gasket". We don't have any crush washers here. On the package it said crush washer. So I picked up 2 packages and tossed him one ask I made my way up to the counter. Nothing needed to be said as I paid and left.

Just for giggles, I wound her up to 8,000 rpm -- in second gear. Speedo said 75 mph, so maybe you CAN get into trouble in second gear.

(Thank goodness there are no speed limits on the Atlanta freeway system.)

There is definately trouble in 2nd gear. The ability to break every speed limit in this country, by a good amount is there, and easy to reach. 2nd is my favorite!!

2nd has nearly gotten me in trouble on so many on ramps. Just seems like a natural reaction to the sound when the engine is around 6,000 RPM and pulling nicely to let it keep going.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I rode it to work again today....like I do everyday. Then I rode Jackie-O back home after another 12 hour day at work. Didn't count the gear changes......that gets distracting after a few months of doing that. Didn't think about how she corners with a CT on the back side since I can't tell the difference anyways after the first few turns of having one.

Rode to work every day this week. Weather is great. Gassed it up yesterday (which, if I don't do any weekend riding , is a once in 3 week event.) and this morning hit my favorite cloverleaf interchange. (Which, for the uninitiated, is 5 270 degree hard right turns back to back) Great way to start the day.

I rode the FJR, I then proceeded to polish the FJR, I then polished the Cee Bailey windshield, afterwords I broke the plastic windshield screws, I went to the hardware store, I bought new stainless steel ones, I put them on, I realised I needed plastic washers, I went back to the hardware store, I put the plastic washers on, I realised I should've washed the bike before polishing it, I continued as if I had done nothing wrong, I finished installing that windshield. I went to my computer, I decided to post something, I posted this, I am telling you now that there's a period somewhere in this post that is after this word.

<giggle, giggle> Yeah man! Not many of those left! I sometimes do them the same way: taking all four exits sequentially, then my "real" exit. Fun!

My FJR (yesterday): Harley buddies bailed on the Banner Elk ride because it was raining, and they were right. It was raining steady-to-hard our whole route. But the dog was already at the kennel, so I saddled up and rode to Savannah and Jesup -- the opposite direction -- for Georgia Grand Tour bonus photos (railroad theme this year). 580 miles round trip, and no rain except leaving and entering Atlanta.

Today was a little shorter, a little over 400 miles, but 4 bonus locations. Late start; had breakfast and a morning-long chat with family at their house.

I changed the oil and filter, then I washed 4703 miles of road grime and bugs off of the ugly thing. I cannot heap enough praise on this wonderful motorcycle, it worked flawlessly the entire trip no matter the temperature (106F for the high), no matter the elevation (over 10,000 feet several times), and no matter the speed... Uh, we will let that one go for now.

Of course, Dad's '07 was stuck to me like glue the entire time. These are just great motorcycles.

My FJR got her GPS installed this evening. (Finally.) The miracle is that it appears to work despite the Pinot Noir consumed during installation.
