Happy Thanksgiving Weekend you Frozen FJR Forumites and a Merry Snow Shovel Day to the Canuckistanis! Phoenix set a temperature record for Thanksgiving, 87F and the previous high was 86F back in 1950. Donna and I spent yesterday riding the FJR, la Comida at Sofia's Mexican Restaurant in Gila Bend. Then we went to the Ak Chin Indian Casino in Maricopa to watch the ASU and U of AZ game on the big screen, while drinking I lost $50 on the Sports Book since I picked the Sun Devils; but won $50 on the video poker machine, so the gambling venture was a wash! jes' sayin' and nuff said, Warm here ese!

...Despite which, I rode my feej today...

...In the heated workshop, in order to get it onto the lift.
Hope you didn't flood it, might make the next start more interesting

.
Nah. I opened the double doors to vent exhaust outside, and warmed to 4 bars to get all the juices flowing and the mufflers warm. I've done the same with every bike I've owned, and so far have not had any Spring start issues.

Oh, and it's nose hair crackin' cold here today. The snow froze hard enough to walk on w/o snowshoes.

Haboob Don Beemer touts the AZ weather forgetting about the camel strangling dust storms, parching lack of water and the fact that it is often cooler in an oven set for medium than outside in your back yard. Here we are enjoying the cool fields, lakes and green meadows of Beemers neighborhood, it's like this year round:

At the same time of the year here we are just south of Lincoln NH having a short ride break and enjoying our lunch:

Taking the time to farkle the hell out of this bad boy....

The 05 looking at this new toy is not pleased with the new addition to the family... :(

Sunny and nice. Only 100 lbs per cubic foot as some wet snow can be.
Wow - 100 pcf equates to an SG of 1.6. Water has an SG of 1.0...............
I did the math too but didn't dispute the perfesser's assertion. Once you start to shovel the white ****, you would agree. Suspect the density goes up from there!

I didn't see the Donal's reply until Ross had a parry. I too invite Donal to shovel my TWO big driveways and the two sided wrap around deck that goes around my house. Let's see how his perception of weight changes in the real world, none of that silly science stuff

Dang near 70 and windy... Slaved away puttin up Christmas lights... one light bulb switched from white to green , hung a wreath, and a plywood snowman. In my condition that's all I could muster.

Woke up to snow, then it quit, the wind started blowing turning Seattle area into the Great White north. Hell there was only a 1 inch of snow but that is a lot around here and in Seattle we like to whine a lot about weather. Anything below 30 is too cold and above 75 is a heat wave.

You folks in SW enjoy winter. The riding days are damn short and when the riding days get longer the camel killing blast furnace temps will return and we in the northlands will be enjoying gorgeous blue sky days on fabulous mountain roads, some of them only a mere hour from humble domicile.

Deal. August is the awkward month, between when last winter's snow is almost all melted and this winter's early snow is ready to fall.

I helped brother-in-law move 9 yards of gravel, a shovel & wheel barrow load at a time from the street in front of his house to his backyard in 115º temps in Skootsdale so I have some idea what real work is like in AZ -- it's better work than wet heavy snow :)

Being Irish (born & bred) I am more than capable of shovelling my share of ****, whatever the colour. Thanks for the offer but

Yesterday: started at 55F at sunrise, climbed to the low 60s in Pisgah, NC, and 68F at Shoeless Joe Jackson in Greenville, then back to the low 50s around 4 pm in Dunwoody. Lots of wind on the interstate coming home.

Well, we had an interesting and memorable Thanksgiving here. We lost power during the 100 lbs/cu ft snow storm on Wednesday that ionbeam mentioned. I'd rather have 2 feet of nice powder than the 6 inches of slushy crap we got hit with. Many trees and branches down under the weight of the wet snow, hence the widespread outages.

The genny got (another) good workout, as we didn't get power back until Friday AM. Spent the day Thursday at son's (up in Vermont), where it was a veritable winter wonderland in the woods, but with power. Getting power back here on Friday was just in the nick of time, as we were still able to have the whole fam damily here on Saturday (as originally planned) for what turned out to be an excellent fresh gobbler, brined for a full 24 hours prior, and all the trimmings. No knives required! TMJ outdid herself as usual.

Temps are soaring now (40's now and may hit 50 later today). The melting is perceptible.

I'm dreaming of a brown Christmas.

High of 50 °F today, 14 °F high tomorrow. Up and down for the next week or two. White Christmas (or white any other time) is very much overrated, in my opinion. I suppose if its going to be cold anyway, a LIGHT coating of snow makes it a little less dreary.
