Low 90's, hot and dry amongst the great unwashed masses here in Downtown Sturgis, Pirate Capitol USA. Thunderstorms predicted later in the week, then they will be the damp and stinky masses.

Got invited over to Line's sisters for breakfast. Line took her truck with my step-daughter. I took the bike. They were calling for rain and t-storms again today. Not a cloud in the sky at 9am. *PERFECT* riding weather.

By the time I headed home around noon (her sister lives an hour from here), the skies were turbulent. I got rained on 4 times on the way home. No rain gear with me either. Aw well. I didn't get soaked, just damp. FJR's have good coverage and, with enough speed, the bulk of the rain gets blown away from you from the wind coming over the windshield.

It's summer, who cares if you get wet. Beats the hell out of breathing forest fire smoke for days and days and days.....

We haven't seen the sun since July 7 when the thunder storm came through. Winds picked up last nite and blew the smoke out. Now the whole region is on fire. Tragically lost three fire fighters yesterday. The fire took a 180 and they crashed the truck trying to outrun the fire.. With a record low snow pack this winter and now unseasonably high temps since June. It's a tinder box and no change in the weather for at least the next two weeks. Summer has sucked.

I feel fortunate that a line of rain came through, and has now departed leaving deep blue skies, 79 degrees and 42% humidity. I lived in the tinder box, and here the trees and lawns are green and the lakes and rivers are full.

I'll be eating shit for the winter weather soon enough, but right now, this is where you want to be.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the firefighters and people at risk and those that lost their lives today. We knew this was coming.

Absolutely perfect here. 55 at night and 80 day and low humidity. I shivered on the way to work this morning with the window down.

I hope fall came early and is here to stay.

I LOVE fall.

:)

84 and 40 mph wind here in Spearfish. To windy to ride, I took a nap after bagging two Antelope with my hunting buddy this morning. Naps and football!

Too windy to ride??? Come on John. The Black Hills are spoiling you!!

That's the jealously talking for sure!! Allen zinged me yesterday He said have fun riding all those flat, straight, boring roads over there in Illinois. I couldn't even head to southern Indiana because of the covered bridge festival. 1.5 million people expected this year with the great weather here.

Sunny, beautiful and 95 degrees in Fargo ND on the 11th of October and I am stuck in the fire station working 24 hours.

I feel your pain. I am on-call for my company for the next week and we are having beautiful autumn weather here in Indiana. Got to go out for a hour or two on the bike both yesterday and today though. We are hoping next weekend will be as nice so we can get out and ride/leaf peep.

Beautiful, blue skies, bright sunshine, dry, almost wind-less October day. Temperature 10-11C (50-52F). Perfect for a ride.

Went for a 60-odd mile run through the Derbyshire Dales. Almost all country lanes. Stopped three times, once for fuel, once to put on a layer and once to admire the scenery. A little too early for the full autumnal colours, which also meant there weren't many leaves on the road

. The low sun gave extreme light and shade contrast over the green hills for stunning views. I didn't take any photos, there's no way they could do justice to what I saw.

The sunlight playing through the leaves created strong dappled patterns on the road, and also gave me my only problem; coming round a corner to be almost totally blinded. It's always a surprise to me how low the sun gets as winter approaches.

Left Saturday morning for my annual fall ride down and back on the Blue Ridge Parkway and, except for 30 - 40 miles of light rain between the James and Roanoke, the weather's been perfect. Low 50s to start, warming to the high 60s / low 70s and sunny.Beautiful foliage from 2500 ft. up. Should be even prettier on the return leg. Hopefully, the pictures and memories will help me keep what little sanity I have left this winter.
