Lucky for me I had a seat in the shade. The sun was no as intense as say July so it was quite pleasant today! The M's won too.

First day of spring and we have yet another storm coming. Not as bad as the last one but some areas will have blizzard conditions and anywhere up to (another) foot of snow. Wind chills well below 0 °F - pretty bad for his time of year. Not much in the way of warm days in the long range forecast, either. Overall, the winter hasn't been terrible but it surely doesn't seem to want to leave! I still have 3' of snow on my front lawn and 6' banks at the end of the driveway. Bike has not been out since early December.

Got a bit exciting here just now. Temp fell 20º in 15-20 minutes as some pretty wild storms moved through. Signs blown over in a parking lot. Reports of golfball-sized hail North of us, so I raced home through the worst of it. In a cage with my dogs, who were happy to get indoors and up on the sofa next to me for the rest of the light and sound show ..

According to the long-range weather forecast, acceptable riding weather (fairly dry and temperatures above 45 °F) are about a week away. This has been the situation for about the last three weeks! There is a decent forecast just close enough in time to start making plans and anticipate finally getting back on the road. The forecast always seems to degrade as the day approaches but there is always something decent about a week or so away!

The past winter was not as brutal as some but it certainly doesn't want to go away. I still have feet of snow on some places on the lawn and there aren't even bare patches anywhere. I don't remember spring ever taking this long to arrive.

Here in the Coral Sea, aboard the beautiful Sun Princess 250 miles NE of Brisbane AU it is 78F, there are lots of low grey clouds and a few showers, the swell is running about 10 fee th and there are some white caps and Wind waves. Quite pleasant out here on the deck chair. A guy can get quite used to this as fter nearly a month aboard. Time for lunch!

80 degrees, slight overcast. Perfect.

30 miles south of Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. To bad no bike as all the roads in the south of this island would be a blast to ride.

... and another foot of snow for next Tuesday/Wednesday. Temperatures to be right around freezing so it's certain to be very wet and heavy.

(Perhaps they will be wrong.)

The weather gods of the Northeast obviously did not get the memo about global warming.

At least that will be rain down here. We got what should have been a foot yesterday, but it was just above freezing so instead it was 6" of heavy crud the snowblower didn't want anything to do with. I may have killed my 20 year old blower cleaning that mess up.

I think my snowblower is 23 years old at this point and well used. I keep saying that I figure it is the last winter for it but somehow it keeps coming back. It doesn't do wet heavy snow very well anymore.

If we get the sort of event that is currently in the forecast, I think there will be more than a bit of shovel activity needed. Especially for the 3-4 feet of water-saturated mess that will be left at the end of the driveway after the snow plow goes by.

EDIT:

Forecast just went from 40-60 cm (~20") of snow to 6-12 cm (~3"). That's a number that is a little easier to handle.

We'll see how much that forecast changes in the next 48 hours! Stay tuned...

Where I am today, the weather is currently 80ºF, sunny, low humidity. It was even nicer earlier when I rode to a woodworking show here in town.

2" of heavy wet white **** this morning.

Gee, it's raining in Northern California...imagine that. Well over 90 inches since last fall, starting to look like a record breaker this season. Forecast? Sun on Friday and Saturday then 4-5 more days of rain. What the heck, this isn't western Washington, is it?
