    Planned Ride Times

Hey John, the schedule isn't "solid" yet. But, I'm guessing that there will be enough of us that we'll probably have two or three rides a day, with several groups taking each route (and maybe a few undocumented ones as well). Trying to keep 100 of us together would be impossible. I'm...

    Throttle Spring Relief

You must not ride enough. ;) I could generally handle about an hour or so of constant riding before my hand started to hurt. That's even with a throttle rocker! The spring was so strong that my Throttlemeister throttle lock would only work for about 30 seconds before being yanked off by the...

FJR's In The 2005 Iron Butt Rally

Who exactly was it that made it from 65th back up to 29th?!? Dude, you're my hero for the week... I was rooting for you the whole way! Honestly, it was more exciting for this armchair throttlemonkey watching you fight your way back up that it would have been if you'd gotten a higher place on...

First Thing To Break Or Wearout ?

First thing that broke on mine was the water pump... started with a leak and eventually needed the impellor replaced as well as the seals... probably around 6000 miles. Shaft drive oil seal went next... about 7500 miles. Other than that, she's all good. Both were covered under warantee...

    Schedule Of Events

Hey all, I think I need to put a schedule of events up on the web site. The only problem is that I'm not sure we actually have one. If anyone has any information about exactly what is happening at what times, that would help me out tremendously. I know we have a dinner at some point, as well...

    Final Drive Leaking

BlueDevil and Blue Dog (do we sense a theme here?), if the leak from the drain hole is what I think it is, it's not the rear pumpkin seal that's leaking. BDog indicated that his pumpkin was still full inspite of the leak. That indicates to me that you're having the same problem I was having...

Gps At Cost To Forum Members From Auto Nav 2000

Hey all, sorry if I'm interrupting any threads here, but I wanted to toss in my "happy customer" post. I sent a couple emails in requesting pricing and such on a Garmin 2610 with the MC kit from Autonav. I made the phone call to place the order and was told up front that the unit was backorded...

    Ticking

Cool... thanks for the link to the Holeshot video. For any of you who may be ex FZ1 owners, it sounds almost identical (to me) to the "sewing machine" sound you get from an FZ1 engine with a shot cam-chain tensioner. Irritating as all hell when it really gets going! Blue Bayou is...

Ram Mounting Locations For Your Garmin 26xx/27xx

I'm gonna have to toss my two cents into the mix here... I don't agree with some of the other comments posted. I have a ram mount ball on my brake lever mount. I use a medium arm which is then connected to the standard diamond mount with the Garmin bike kit bolted to that. I...

    Hurricane Katrina

Well, I'm riding the feejer much more than driving my truck now. Other than that, it's still all good. Fuel is available, just a bit pricier. If 30-40 cents a gallon were going to be a concern for me, I wouldn't have bought a $12000 bike. ;) I don't think that fuel costs/availability will...

    Throttle Spring Relief

Thanks for the input guys, It's a done deal! I let the spring do one unwind last night and it's now perfect. While sitting in the garage, I didn't think it made that much difference. But as soon as I pulled out, it was an amazing difference! Just right. I too have a Throttlemeister and...

    EOM Need An SS1k Witness

Okay... My schedule is now working it's way out a bit. I *WILL* be in Townsend on Thursday evening and will be available for SS1k witnessing. I'll find out my room number and post it on here when I get it. That way if anyone roles in late, you'll know who's door to come banging on without...

    Final Drive Leaking

It's probably grease as the others have mentioned. Clean it off after each ride... it'll stop in a few days. But, there is one other thing to check... Take a look under the shaft side of the swing-arm. Right in front of where the pumpkin bolts to the swing arm is a drain hole. If there's oil...

    Donations For EOM

Charlie, thanks for the info... an email has been sent to Jeff. FJRandy, thanks again for the harness. I'm sure it'll make someone happy. :) BTW... I may have asked you before, but is there a link or banner or anyting I can put on the site as a thank you?

    Throttle Spring Relief

Cool... that's what I needed to know. I'll give the screwdriver trick a try. As for the VA inspections... they can sometimes be real jerks. I just didn't know how much spring I would lose after the mod. If it was close to "freewheeling", they might fail it.

Erm... I think it actually tells you how to do it in the owners manual.

    Donations For EOM

I'll get on it. Got an email address for me? I'll shoot off the required info and bring it down with the rest of the stuff. Thanks Charlie. :)

    Throttle Spring Relief

Hey all... I've been toying around with the idea of disconnecting my main throttle return spring. I've done some research, read some posts, irritated pilots via email, etc. Still got a couple of questions though... Some wrenches have stated that when they've pulled the spring off the metal...

    Caught By Killboy

I pulled off the sidecases mainly because I just don't like riding with them if I can help it. I only have the stock shocks and them puppies are fairly heavy. I was also somewhat considering the possibility of saving as many bits as possible in case I had an intimate visit with the road. As...
