I would suggest that the rain pants have the elastic strap to go under the boot. Otherwise, they may ride up the leg far enough to expose the top of the boot to rain, letting in the wet stuff.

I dunno KD... I actually feel safer commuting on the slab. The traffic is going one direction, I don't have to worry about cross-traffic and left-turners. I ride the same as you on the SS... faster in lighter traffic, match speed and try to maintain a buffer in heavier traffic. YMMV.

I guess accelerating a bit and driving over the obstacle isn't an option when it's a friggin' house. <_< Actually, as long as you didn't get rear-ended, this wouldn't be that bad since it's really visible.
