Opinions on stock seat (Gen II)

Congratulations on the new bike! Just wanted to reinforce what has already been said about sheepskin + the Master Yoda riding position. Those two things alone make the bike totally comfortable for me, without aftermarket seat, risers, etc. First trip, wearing jeans, sitting on the stock...

    06-07 question

<post deleted> Whoops -- OP already got a better quote than the companies I was suggesting.

    Adjustable Cowlings

Your post inspired me to play with the cowlings for the first time today -- put one in the "out" position. It looked as though it would touch down before some of the other plastic, so, since the benefit is a little unclear, figured I'd just leave them in. Living in the Atlanta area, with...

    Any 2009's out there yet?

Cycle Specialty in Fayetteville, GA has an A model. It hasn't been de-crated yet, though.

Looking for the black cherry (burgundy) color panel for a Givi V46 box. -- John, south of Atlanta (Fayetteville) [email protected]

So...it's been about a year with my FJR

I'm 6 feet with a 30 inch inseam. Picked the CalSci tall. No buffeting, and in the topmost position I can see over it or through it. Got the V46. Love it. Regarding the seat and seating position, you're going to hear lots of recommendations for replacement seats and handlebar risers. Once I...

ECU Replacement Turnaround Time By Dealer?

In addition to Hammer Time Sports in Belvidere, there are dealers in DeKalb and Woodstock, and also in Beloit and Darien, WI. One of them should be able to set things right, and as has been pointed out, it's only about a 20-minute procedure. Best of luck, -- John in Georgia, ex-IL

FJR is a 5 speed - why not a six?

Scott, I've got your answer, but since you've checked out and won't be seeing, it, I guess I won't bother.

    The Feejer keeps dying

The idle speed adjustment is a manual adjustment (no tools) on the right side of the bike. That's the first thing I'd try before digging into anything.

    half face helmet ran over

Nope, sorry, "major scrapes" and "good to go" are mutually exclusive, not to mention the damage from impact with the road and being run over. That helmet needs to be replaced, unless the only reason you're wearing it is to comply with the law, in which case, "never mind."

    Anybody with ideas

Hey, Dirk, congrats on a great choice! Regarding the CalSci windshield, I ordered one the day I got back from my first (2040 mile) FJR trip. It makes a tremendous difference in noise and buffeting. Thing about the size, is, it all depends on where your butt is in relation to your head and...

    G2 Throttle Tamer

The important thing to understand is that while the throttle won't open quite as quickly during the first 1/4 turn or so, it will open every bit as far. So no, you haven't given up anything except the abruptness of the off-idle transition.

    Headlight Adjustment Cable

Actually, it isn't necessary to remove the knobs and nuts at all, and while it's one way to do it, it's the hard way. Rather, from the back of the panel, you unscrew the knurled collar holding the cable to the back of the shaft, just like we used to disconnect Dad's speedometer cable so the...

    Atlanta Motorcycle Show FJR Luncheon

Hey, gang, sorry to miss the lunch -- I hadn't noticed that there was going to be a gathering. It was great seeing both the A and AE models of the FJR at the show. Anyone else see that lad crash in the ball of steel? Pretty scary, but according to a nurse on the scene, he should be O.K. --...

    new farkles installed

Same here, day before yesterday, first ride today, and I'm completely satisfied. First impression on rolling out of the driveway was, "this feels sluggish," but then I realized that's exactly the effect the G2 is supposed to have. Combined with taking up the slack in the throttle cables, the...
