So you are seeing red..... Excellent! A or ES?
Well, that aught'a learn 'em! You've shown Yamaha you're not willing to take their shyte!Do told.So I'm going to fix it and be happy.
Do tell!Getting a 14.
What is the upper limit on it?Definitely follow your gut on that one, Bart. I need a spot-tourer in the garage and have been riding an 07 ST13 for the past 6 years until trying on another FJR last year. Now that the FJR is in, the ST13 is out. And I'm thinking of re-evaluating the rest of the garage too so in addition to the ST13 and 2013 FJR I may be selling an 05 GL1800A and the 2012 Super Tenere... You know... because the new Tenere has cruise.

On the Super Tenere? Not sure. What is the upper limit on it?Definitely follow your gut on that one, Bart. I really enjoy my ST10 but it doesn't have the turbine smooth big power of the FJR for high speed open road riding (100+). I really enjoy my FJR but it semi-sucks off road and is really too heavy and low for that. I'm a huge Yamaha quality fan so I'm hesitant to go outside of the brand that's been so good to me for the last 13 years. I'll give the FJR/ST10 another year before making a decision though. Certainly no hurry at all.
Directly from the owners manual:What is the slowest speed you can set the 14 FJR at...
What exactly is the criteria ?!?! has to be in 3rd gear before able to engage it ?!?!
Thanks for your help...
The word about is Yamaha's.The cruise control system operates only when riding in 3rd, 4th or 5th gear at speeds between about 50 km/h (31 mi/h) and 160 km/h (100 mi/h).
I really am enjoying my 2013, but the cruise issue is a blocker for me getting the FJR where I want/need it to be in the farkling department. I've held out long enough for Yamaha to make a fix available (even one that I'd gladly pay for), but it looks like it's an exercise in futility.
In the meantime, the Candy Red 14 is growing on me and I've decided to fix the issue by buying one. When all is said and done it may be the most expensive CC I've ever purchased and some will think I'm an idiot, but I will be happy. And that's what matters most. Cuz when I'm not happy, all y'all suck.
Go red Jason! You can join my band-of-one happy idiots who sold a 2013 for a Red 14 ES. It may be the most expensive CC, Red paint and inverted forks I have ever purchased but I couldn't be a happier idiot. And there's nothing like a happy idiot.
Best of luck with the upgrade.

So 3rd is restricted to 100, 4th and 5th to 112. It will set above the minimum speed in 3rd, 4th or 5th.The cruise control system operates only when riding in 3rd gear at speeds between about 50 km/h (31 mi/h) and 160 km/h (100 mi/h), or 4th or 5th gear at speeds between about 50 km/h (31 mi/h) and 180 km/h (112 mi/h).
If you think about it, it only makes sense to refer to the speedometer, since that is the only speed the CC computer can use.Is that measured by the on board speedo or is that an outboard GPS ?!?!?....
Bah, it's your money. Hell, if I was rich I'd probably replace my bike about twice a year.I really am enjoying my 2013, but the cruise issue is a blocker for me getting the FJR where I want/need it to be in the farkling department. Doh - I forget that you guys with those new fancy machines have a digital speedo..... LOLIf you think about it, it only makes sense to refer to the speedometer, since that is the only speed the CC computer can use.Is that measured by the on board speedo or is that an outboard GPS ?!?!?....
Your silly ol needle style is still ECU controlled. The [Gen I VSS signal] [Gen II ABS ECU wheel sensor pulses] are sent to the engine ECU; the ECU converts the VSS/wheel pulses to a digital value; software with some math converts the digital value to speed; the speed value is sent to the meter assembly where the speed value drives a motor to move the silly ol needle to indicate the speed.Doh - I forget that you guys with those new fancy machines have a digital speedo..... LOLI just have that silly ol needle style
Damn straight. My circus. My monkeys.Bah, it's your money. Ya. I've never let my own idiocy prevent me from being happy. Looks like I'll be able to pick up the bike on October 4th. Purchasing from Honda/Yamaha of Memphis. Same place I bought the 13. Reckon I should tell Debbie that she's driving me to Memphis next Friday.Best of luck with the upgrade.
