Here's where it goes Howie

Well Hell, that's where I guessed it went. One problem, though...mine doesn't sit flush in the hole like yours does.

I guess that means when it fell out, something in the assembly slipped out of place and won't let it seat normally.

I'm guessing one of the parts labelled #4 or #5:

Hopefully I won't have to disassemble the diff to get things lined back up. Maybe use the axle to line everything back up, then slide the collar back into position using the axle as a guide.

Thanks for taking a look. :D

I can't imagine that the pieces got too far out of alignment. A light and careful minipulation with a long skinny punch ought to put things back right?

No doubt about it, my "whatever it is" doesn't come anywhere near to sitting as flush as yours does, and there's nothing in there to slip out of alignment and keep it from sitting flush.

But I can worry about that later. MUCH later. :)

I see ya found my wifes prom pic Howie
:jester:
I would NOT want to be in your shoes when she sees this.

'course I don't think I'd EVER wanna be in youir shoes.....

Awesome following.

You are earning SUPER FJR-STUD status- with this undertaking.

Good luck with this, obviously skill is your guide; luck ran out when you removed all the glamour parts and stripped her down to the nitty gritty.

Awesome job.

Don't worry Howie. Took right care of this pain in the . . . . . This is all that's left.

Oh, and I may need a place to "hide" for a few days. :whistling: Those jail cells make me claustrophobic.

I won't be a bother, I promise.

If you'd like I can bring a couple of 5 pound hand mauls with me to use when you put it back together? Hell, on second thought perhaps they'll be handy to get your new motor out of my old frame? As my father always said,"Son, never force it, just go and get a bigger hammer"!

Unbelievable undertaking. I'm not even going to mention that when I need an oil change, I take it to a dealer. I am so unworthy.

This is the easy part, taking the engine out........the hard part is Howie putting everything back together. (Wonder how many ways he can mess it up?)

GEE THANKS!

(Or as Elizabeth Barrett Browning noted "Let Me Count The Ways!")

.....plus there ain't nothing easy about taking this beast apart. :p

Just got back from a nice 50 mile "Lakes" ride just before sunset. We got LOTS of lakes in my little corner of the universe and there's nothing like roads following shorelines to make up for all the straight asphalt here in Flori-DUH. :)

I REALLY needed that ride! Had to "blow off some stink" as MissusHowie refers to it when you're suffering from cabin fever. In my case, it's garage fever.

Let Rex stretch his legs and sharpen his claws. DAMN that bike is a hoot! The perfect hooligan bike. And when that Muzzy is singing at 11,000 rpm, it's a joy to hear.

Silver Streak was pissed. He wants to go play, too. :)

I did a fair amount of water skiing on Lake Eloise back in the day. You may have heard of the place ... is it still open?

Good luck with the engine R&R. Reminds me of the same type of playin' around I did with cars then too. Jeez I'm gettin' old!
