Was wondering who has the Lowest and who has the Highest mileage on their FJR??

Has to be the ORIGINAL motor.

I have 3,900 on a 2008, just bought it with 2,900 though.
I'm by no means one of the big dogs, but my '07 has 160k miles on the original engine, which is still running strong.

The only engine related things I've had to change have been, the Starter motor (at 142k), Stator and Cam Chain Tenssioner (as a precaution). The valves have never been out of spec.

Valves never been out of spec - neat.

Don't recall - does one have to split the cases to repalce the starter motor? I'm sure one would have to do so for the starter clutch, but I'm not certain on the motor itself.

Also, I've got a close riding buddy that rides an '04 ST1300 with 90K on it, bought new. It's time to replace all of the coolant hoses. For that bike, one gets to disassemble a ton to perform this service, as there is at least 1 hose between the heads. We are planning a weekend for it.

These bikes are some mileage eaters, man.

No splitting the cases for either the starter motor OR the starter clutch.

The Starter Motor lives on the left side of the block, above the transmission, below the throttle bodies.

The Starter Clutch lives in the stator housing on the left side of the motor, easily accessible from the outside.

Good to know, R/H - thanks. I am eventually going to give the suckers the $100.00 for the Yami service manual. I guess I'm resisting on a matter of principle.

I have a 2003 FJR that I bought last year. It has an amazing 15678 miles on it.

I bet it has over 20000 on it by the end of the year.

We, the wife and I, love this bike! I have 2 bikes, a DRZ 400 and the FJR 1300. She asked me the other day, if I had to get rid of one what would I do and, what would I get. I told her I will not part with either. If I had to get rid of the FJR, I would go straight to the Yamaha dealer and order a brand new FJR 1300. That was the end of the conversation!

I bought my '05 in August 2011 from the original owner with 5400 miles on it. At the sale, I told the previous owner that I would double the mileage before the end of the year. He laughed at me, and of course I met my goal with no problems, finishing 2011 with about 11,xxx miles.

Then I more than doubled it again in 2012, finishing with 28,xxxx.

Now then, I'd love to double it again this year, but I'm not sure I'll make it.

Just getting started, '03 with just over 56,000. 150,000 more to go and I might consider a Gen3, IF they fix the cruise control. If not I will keep riding mine or find another Gen1. I can't bring myself to swing a leg over a Gen2.

FlyingJ - why no Gen II? Just curious.

I'm enjoying the disassembly of Patriot's blown motor with 96K on it. Check it out if you are interested. No one these bikes are mileage eaters.
