I still haven't seen my set for my 2006 FJR AE.

Has anyone got the latest version for the AE? Are they installing properly?

I am just want to make sure - if they are still having fitting issues, I may just cancel and forgo this farkle (even though I really want it)!

Best Regards,

Shane

Ok mine are installed (07 A) - had to drill out the holes on the "top" of the rear bracket to make them fit. On one side I had to cut away 1/8" to make it fit in the original footpeg spot.....neither of the rear footpegs are going to fit without some cutting or adjustment. For now I have 1" I.D. clear hose fit around it....

Hey guys,

I don't know why I haven't seen this before: I've been looking for crash bars for the bike; this is awesome and I'll see if I can order a set.

However, here's my question:

How about crash bars in front or below the saddle bags to protect these little fragile suckers? Anybody who knows of anything?

I left Staphanie a voicemail hoping they will make some.

Cheers

FWIW...
I doubt it will affect any currently produced rears but I'm asking 905 to look at changing the rear peg placement to something more like:

PegLocation.jpg

which IMHO would be preferred over where they are now.

It would certainly make the mount a little more complicated than what they have but worth doing I think.

MD,

I'm not sure how well moving the rear pegs forward will work.....the wife was on behind yest and her toes were bumping the back of my feet with her heels touching the front of the side bags....not much room for her feet back there.

My reworked rears should be here soon. I don't think they made the changes (mine were already out to be re-powdercoated when I called. i.e. it was too late.

My wife has a little room, as do the kids when they ride with me. It's those odd times that I've ridden my son somewhere. I agree there isn't much room, but then again he has some size 12 feet.

Finally got my set of front and rear crash bars installed today. On the 07A no fitment problems but did have to monkey around a bit, particularly with the rear right side until I found there are two different bolts for the muffler hanger. Many thanks Renegade and Racing 905 for the nice product.

It would be neat to be able to reuse the rear passenger pegs on the front as highway pegs. Does anybody know of any adapter blocks that could be used to do this.

Cheers.

I don't come on this forum for months and they come out with crash bars finally! Too bad I missed the group buy. :( Front set ordered!

My new set for a 07 ae will be here on tuesday but, bike will be at dealers for the ignition recall so I will not have a chance to install them until weekend.

Fronts installed! They look great. Post pics if any of you have tried to add highway pegs yet.

Pics, of mine with sliders and crash bars. The sliders were put on a lathe and I just taped them on with a hammer, about and inch, and i cant pull them of by hand. The combo crash bars/peg mounts are the best and my legs are thanking me for It, only $32.95 eBay.

Do those clamp on nice, and tight? Do they stay folded when you have them up?

They work pretty good, but I need to use some lock-tight and would be nice to have them powder coded.

What cha bumping for hoss?
so I don't have to chase back 20 pages to find it Got a set of the bars but it has been too miserable to get them mounted so just trying to watch this thread
You could always click the "Options" box in the upper right area of your post and select "Subscribe to this forum"....
That would make things way to easy besides I would not have been able to get to talk to you like this.

Any word on bars for the Gen 1 , If not I'm going to find a local fabricator.
Chris
The delay on the AE bars are getting frustrating. Two weeks ago, they explained that they were doing the final measurements for the AE. I also asked about the problem with some people finding some of the rears do not fit. They said that they now know what is going on and verified it with a recent set. Since the rears are the first time they have made a product with a full 180 degree bend, the bend is changing during the heating process for powder coating. They are going to recheck the rears after the heating process to fix it. Mine will be going to Garauld for Cerulean Silver and they cannot say whether his heating process will affect the fit as well.

HMMM, I got my AE bars about a month ago. I have yet had the time to install them.

Just a quick update at least from my end.

I received my re-worked Rears tonight, the ones with the foot peg brackets. I had ordered them at the same time as everyone else, except, well, my order was probably order #1. :)

I never really intended to mount the rears, but I wanted to have a complete set. I think they are kind of fugly. Functional though as I can now attest to what the expense will be to repair one bag and that's significantly more than the cost of the rear bars, but I digress.

My original set didn't have foot peg brackets and I sent them back to get them welded on.

I installed them tonight, and except for a few of my own, not paying attention issues they fit pretty darn good.

I think the instructions said the 10mm spacer goes on the right side, the 1/2 spacer on the left. Well for my bike that was the opposite. But I consider the right side as I'm sitting on it, not as you're looking at it from the front.

I did have 'stretch' the left about a 3/8 of an inch. I stuck it on my floor jack and well, just spread it a bit.

I had no other issues. The holes in the bars themselves especially the rear can clamp are tighter than they need to be IMHO. Tight on the bolt. If it were a bit sloppier things would have been a bit easier.

What worked for me was to remove the aluminum frame to can piece. Put the bolt through that with the appropriate spacers. Use a larger allen wrench to line up the holes where the cap screws came out and get everything started.

Including dropping in a 10mm screw for the foot pegs. Unfortunately my set didn't come with those but I had them on hand any way in some metric nut/bolt assortment.

I could put these on in 30 minutes (both sides) if I had to do it again. The whole thing only took an hour and that included me taking the left off twice and swap out the spacers, then to realize that the bolt was longer too so I took it all apart again. It is a 'little' sprung, but by loosely starting everything and having the bolt through the bars and the bottom of the aluminum I was good to go.

I (and my wife) still think they are mighty fugly... And they may not stay, depending on how she likes or doesn't like the peg location).
